For the Love of Hot DOC’s and the tweet’s that inspired this post:

This is how it all began….

Harlequin Junkie

I am a HUGE fan of medical romances, if you asked me to rate the Harlequin Series in the order of preference I would have to say

1. Harlequin Medical

2. Harlequin Presents.

So I was quite surprised to learn that the Harlequin Medical series does not have the same fan following and readership in the US as it does in Europe.

Could this be because the Medical line does not have print In-store retail distribution in the US or maybe a case of very little exposure? Hmmm… Amy Andrews and I were having a conversation about this and she inspired (read nudged) me to write up this post.

Ok I said, I will be happy to champion the cause 🙂

So here goes…

Are you a fan of Grey’s Anatomy, Love House?

If you enjoy emotionally compelling stories set in a fast paced, high pressured environment full of hot doc’s and top-notch surgeons You will love the Medical Romance Line. You will find all of our much loved romance tropes within this line only sexier and packed with a lot more adrenaline rush. 😉

If you haven’t read a Harlequin Medical before and are wondering where to start, I would recommend you start with a multi author series to get a good feel for this line.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Harlequin Medical line with 2 great series.

Oh and if you love continuities as much as I do there’s a fab new one out this year from our US authors centred around a NYC children’s hospital nicknamed Angels . It also has an Aussie spinoff of 4 books (set at the Gold Coast) of which I’m writing the last. The firstAngels book (there are 8)  is out in March. – Amy Andrews

The upcoming medical romance continuity, set at the fictional Angel Mendez Children’s Hospital in New York City, is named NYC Angels. There are eight books releasing two per month starting in March 2013.

Yay! Thanks for flying the flag for medical romances! Hot docs rock! (As do hot army medics physios, vets, firefighters, cops, and all the other hunky heroes the medicals have)…

  2. Jennifer Faye

The new medicals are fabulous! They’re now one of my favorite lines to read. They’re definitely not the same old medicals of years back. 🙂

Thanks for posting this. It’d be great if they had paperback distribution in the U.S., but at least you can order them online.

  3. Lynne Marshall

This is music to my ears, Sara. Thank you for being outspoken in your support of Medical Romance. We won’t ever be in stores in the U.S. so we are destined to be discovered one book, one continuity, one series at a time. So glad you’re tooting our horn.

I am fortunate to have book #7 in the NYC Angel’s continuity – Making the Surgeon Smile. Here’s my blurb – oh, and it will be out in June.

Surgeon Johnny Griffin’s world stopped when he lost his wife and unborn child. Now only his little patients can brighten Johnny’s day. Until the moment bubbly new nurse Polly Seymour whirls into his ward and turns his life upside down!

She’s the ray of sunshine this brooding doc needs—the only woman who can make him feel alive again. It could be the second chance Johnny’s dreamt of…if he doesn’t let her slip through his fingers…

    NYC Angels

Children’s doctors who work hard and love even harder…in the city that never sleeps!

  4. Princess Fi

I just wish they would let you buy the full set all at once in eBook. I’m missing three out of SHH and I refuse to start reading until I have the full set.

  5. Tina Beckett

Sara, thanks so much for this fabulous post! I’ve always loved medicals, even before I started writing them, and as Louisa said, there are all kinds of wonderful heroes and heroines who inhabit our books (not to mention, all kinds of heat levels).

I haven’t had a chance to read all the NYC Angels books, so I’m looking forward to it (although we authors did have a blast chatting with each other as we plotted and brainstormed our way through our own books).

Thanks again for shining the spotlight on Medical Romance, Sara!

Hi Sara, thanks so much for writing such a wonderful blog showcasing our medical books! I’m the third book in the NYC Angel’s series, Unmasking Dr. Serious and this book will be available in April. This was such a fun series to write and I enjoyed collaborating with the other authors such as Lynne Marshall.

But as Princess Fi said, I wish they would package them and sell them as a set, too!

    Laura Iding

  7. Scarlet wilson

Thanks for the shout out for medical series books. I love reading a series but want to read them all at once!

  8. susancarlisle1

    Hey Sara,
Thanks for the wonderful shout out about the series.

My book is #4 The Wallflower’s Secret and comes out with Laura Iding. It takes place in NCY at Angles. Lucy is a family counselor who understands emotional sacrifice and Ryan is an up and coming nerosurgeon with his own issues to deal with. They are forced to work together and the sparks fly.

I’m honor to be included in the series with such great authors. I won’t miss a single one of these.

  9. Fiona Lowe

Sara, so thrilled you love the Harlequin Medical romances. I remember the first time I was introduced to them and I was hooked! I have a book out in the spin off continuity from Angels, set in the Gold Coast. It will be out sometime this year.

  10. Amy Andrews

Ooh. Look at that! There’s me on that twitter feed 🙂
    Thanks Sarah, great post!
For those of you who have read Finn and EVie Im actually seriously thinking of writing EThans story early next year!

  11. Melanie Milburne

    Hi Sara,
Thanks for the lovely post. I loved being part of the Sydney Harbour Hospital continuity. Medicals are such fun to write- so much emotion and drama, and yes, even comedy at times. My next release is Their Most Forbidden Fling. Lucas is my most non-slutty hero of all time!

  12. Annie Claydon

Hi Sara, thanks so much for your spotlight on Medical Romance! The continuities are definitely a great way to get to know Medical Romance, and I’m another one who likes to save them up to read together (along I usually don’t have the willpower and end up diving straight in 🙂 ) Somehow I don’t think I’ll be able to wait to start NYC Angels!

I’m thrilled that ‘The Rebel and Miss Jones’ is on the Harlequin site this month – my first to be available in the US.
