In Bound by Sin (Immortal Brothers #3) by Jacquelyn Frank, Immortal warrior Bound-by-SinJaykun stands alongside his brothers by day, bringing word of the goddess Weysa to every land they encounter. By nightfall, however, he lives out his curse of being burned to an unrecognizable state for gaining immortality without express permission by the gods. Being nearly emotionless has served Jaykun well in his ongoing plight, until the day he meets otherworldly Jileana.

“I only wished to know everything about you. I find you so fascinating. I find you different.”
“I am no different from any other man,” he said.
“Other men do not burn like a star.”
Well, she had him there.

Jileana’s curiosity and straightforwardness enchants Jaykun as much as her beauty does, but he knows it is best for them to put a time limit on their affair. He doesn’t want to end up hurting the young woman when he must move on to his next battle. Little do either of them realize that the next challenge they must face will be in her world, with a fight that will draw them both in. One that shows Jileana and Jaykun how much they truly mean to each other.

“You are capable of love whether you want to admit it or not, and I am willing to wait until you figure it out for yourself.”
“You will be waiting a long, long time,” he said quietly. “You will be waiting in vain.”

Bound by Sin was a paranormal/fantasy that combined our heroine’s wide-eyed innocence with our hero’s cynical views to give us a romance that encompassed both the good and bad in their worlds.

The idea behind the Immortal Brothers series is an intriguing one: four brothers who are punished for becoming immortal without permission granted by the gods. I think you can easily read each of their stories independently or as part of the quartet and it will still make sense. The dynamic Jacquelyn Frank created between the brothers was actually entertaining, even though a lot of this novel was filled with struggles and war. They acted like typical brothers by fighting, teasing and annoying each other which made this more relatable.

I think some readers may get a little frustrated with the extreme innocence and naivety of Jileana. For me (and for Jaykun) once we found out what she truly was it made her actions more believable. Jileana’s optimism and selfless love for Jaykun was a beautiful thing, doing wonders for the war-ravaged man and his hidden emotions. There was a lot of tenderness between them. Well, in addition to the incredible chemistry and desire that took them over. 😉 And I especially enjoyed watching how Jaykun and Jileana fit in to each other’s world. It was described incredibly well, with details that made their worlds really spring to life off the pages.

With an immortal warrior who has lost faith in love and a mysterious woman with enough faith to overcome anything thrown their way, Bound by Sin was a creative new addition to Jacquelyn Frank’s Immortal Brothers series.

From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes a blazing-hot novel in her thrilling new series featuring four immortal warrior brothers whose fate lies with themselves as much as with their stars.

After being chained to a star to burn endlessly as punishment for stealing immortality from the gods, Jaykun has been unshackled to wage war alongside his brothers, in the name of a goddess. But his freedom comes with a price: Each night Jaykun must still suffer—his body burning from the inside out. One early morning, recovering from his torment, he encounters a beautiful stranger on the beach. Naked from her midnight-black hair down to her sandy toes, she approaches him with starry-eyed innocence and the unmistakable full body of a woman.

Soon Jaykun is swept up with the force of a comet, his desire for her hotter than any sun. His brothers fear he is blinded by her radiant beauty, that she has been sent by their enemies to seduce and destroy him. Jileana is indeed from another world—one Jaykun cannot begin to imagine. But will their passion burn brightly enough to light their way through the darkness that threatens to consume all in its path?
