REVIEW: Chaser by Kylie Scott

Chaser by Kylie Scott: Eric has never apologized or reconsidered his life or his playboy ways, but he’s beyond fed up with the constant criticism of his life and revolving bedmates. He’s sexy, confident, and loves being a part owner of the Dive Bar where he manages the actual bar.

He is immediately drawn to a sexy newcomer but is more than a little horrified to learn that Jean, while single, is pregnant. Jean is starting over and looking to build the best life she can for herself and her baby. Eric isn’t used to rejection and Jean certainly puts him in his place.

“Pawing is altogether encouraged.”
Startled laughter burst out of her. “Look at you with the long hair and that face and everything. You’re a hell of a flirt, Eric.”
“Thank you very much. You’re rather easy on the eyes yourself.” I smirked. “And I still owe you a trick.”

While Eric is torn by his disconcerting and unwelcome feelings toward Jean, he can’t avoid her as they are neighbors. There is an inconvenient attraction that he struggles to ignore. They form a somewhat unexpected friendship as he is drawn to her and her adorable baby girl. Jean brings out another side of him and sees him quite differently from his friends, family, and his own self-perception.

“Give me the keys. I’ll drive you.”
“That’s nice of you, but not necessary. You’ve been working all night; you’re tired. Go to bed.” She pressed the button, unlocking the doors. “I can drive myself.”
“If you’re in enough pain to need to go see a doctor, then you’re in too much pain to drive. I’m taking you.”

Chaser is an entertaining slow burn. Kylie Scott created an engaging pairing that is really well matched. Ms. Scott brings family, friendship, second chances, and heat. Chaser can be read as a standalone in the Dive Bar series. Fans of Kim Karr and Erika Kelly will enjoy Chaser.

Given his well-earned bad boy reputation, Eric is having a tough time scoring.. When single Jean moves to town, she seems heaven sent by the sex gods. Only problem is, she not only wants nothing to do with him, but it turns out that she’s pregnant.

Starting over in a small town, Jean is determined to turn her wild lifestyle around and be the kind of mother she always wished she’d had. Since local bar owner and all round hottie, Eric Collins, is now determined to steer clear of her pregnant self, it should be easy. When she goes into labour during a snow storm and her car slides on some ice, it’s Eric who comes to the rescue.

There seems to be a bond between them now, but is it enough? And can Eric give up his manwhore ways to be the man Jean needs?
