In Closer Than You Think (Faith Corcoran #1) by Karen Rose, Karen will keep you guessing with her complex tale of suspenseful mystery.

Closer-Than-You-ThinkFaith inherits her grandmother’s house at a time when she needs to escape from where and who she was. Even though the house and the memories it evokes haunt her and she’d rather leave them all in the past, it is where she has to run to. After a very difficult few years, at times terrifying, Faith is ready to start over. But there’s more than she knows going on, and someone’s been playing in her house.

FBI Special Agent Deacon is back in his home town for family reasons, and is part of a special crimes unit. When he starts investigating missing women and murders that all seem to link back to Faith, they both realize something very sinister is going on. Has danger followed Faith, or is there another danger that is threatening her with her return to her grandmother’s home?

Brought together through crime and fear, Deacon and Faith also have an attraction to each other that slowly builds through out Closer Than You Think. As crimes are uncovered and the plot twists and turns, Faith and Deacon become closer. Faith is strong and independent, but she is also not a stupid heroine, she knows Deacon has a job to do and can’t be worried about her. I really like this in a heroine, that she doesn’t think she has to do everything, she actually listens to the hero. Deacon is protective, and from when he first lays eyes on Faith he believes she is an innocent victim in what ever is going on. As danger gets closer, and the truth is more tangled than ever, will he be able to keep Faith safe? If what is happening is tied up with Faith somehow, what then?

Closer Than You Think is an intricate story that takes place over a few intense days. It is long, but I found it easy to read and get into. Karen really pulled me in with the mystery surrounding the house Faith inherited. Karen manages to write in numerous sub plots that all find their way to the main plot and tie in nicely, giving the characters and situations dimension and a realistic feeling.

There are a lot of secondary characters in Closer Than You Think, so I really found myself engrossed in the plot as Karen worked them all in well and relevantly. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Karen would prove me wrong!

With attention to detail and filled with secrets, Closer Than You Think is full of fear, heart ache and hope. I’d recommend Closer Than You Think to readers looking for the thrill of suspense with a romance woven in.
