In Completely Yours (Opposites Attract #1) by Erin Nicholas, Keira Connelly is a woman that prefers staying home, absorbed in her online life as a gamer, which helps in her career as a game designer. But on the rare occasion she leaves the house to attend Comic Con with her friends, disaster strikes. Luckily, EMT Zach Ashley is there to keep her from panicking too much and soon after they find themselves growing closer when Zach asks her for a favor. Can she aid him in his quest to help his sister move past her grief and find the girl she once was?

She pulled up straighter as she walked, and he felt her hand tighten in his. “Kick-ass. Right. I can do that.”
He smiled. “And I could use some help from an interpreter.”
“An interpreter? I speak some Spanish, but that’s about it.”
“You don’t speak geek?” He hoped he wasn’t committing a faux pas in calling her, and all of this, geeky.
But she actually gave him a half smile. “Oh, geek. Yes, I’m fluent.”

Opposites Attract is a trope that I’ve come to absolutely love, and Ms. Nicholas has definitely penned a worthwhile read that encompasses the trope in this first book of her new Opposites Attract series. Right from the beginning, this book begins a little intense by the scene Zach is arriving at as an EMT. What sort of injuries have people suffered? Clearly, he wasn’t expecting to meet someone like Keira; a woman that holds his attention, even though he has no interest in gaming. Yet, there’s something about her that has him intrigued enough to give her a cute nickname.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories; the moment when Zach and Keira meet because of the incident that’s bought him to Comic Con as an EMT; and the favor Zach asks of Keira, because clearly she doesn’t have a clue how to help people. She’s not big on interacting with others, although she has a close friendship with her two friends, Sophie and Mia. Yet, she has a common interest with Zach’s sister, Aimee, that could really help the heroine bond with the young woman. If she’s to help Aimee overcome the grief she has suffered and aid Zach in getting his sister back. The sister she was before they lost someone important to them.

“I should warn you,” she finally said. “I’m immune to charm.”
“You got a shot or something?” he asked. She amused him. He couldn’t help it.
“You’re right. More likely it’s an allergy,” she said thoughtfully.
He felt his mouth quirk. “An allergy? To charm?”
“Yeah, my stomach feels a little funny.”
He gave her a slow grin. “Oh, those are butterflies, Princess. And that’s a good symptom.”

Both characters were fantastic with Keira taking me completely by surprise. She’s not the quiet, shy type I was expecting. There’s something about being with Zach that brings out a different side to her. She’s strong and brave by accepting to do the favor Zach asks when she wouldn’t normally do something like that. Also, I liked how she provides quite a challenge for the hero because she’s nothing like Zach expected her to be. Really, I enjoyed how she continued to surprise Zach with the way she teases him and how she’s so open and honest about who she really is, so he understands that she’s nothing like the women he normally goes for. Moreover, the bond she shares with her two friends is quite a special one. She needs them just as much as they need her whether it’s for advice or getting Keira to be more social.

While Zach, he’s every bit a real-life hero determined to fix everyone’s problems, because of the guilt he feels over losing someone important to him. But I kept wondering throughout this story, whether he was helping or hindering his sister’s progress when it came to dealing with her grief? People work through their grief differently, and no matter how much they change, those close to them should love them despite the changes. I could understand Zach’s reasons for wanting his outgoing sister back with her bubbling personality, but at the same time, I was a little frustrated by his need to want to fix his sister and everything that he felt was wrong with his family. It’s why Keira was good for him. She makes him realize that he can’t save everyone, no matter how hard he tries.

”Right, Keira? I got to the princess, didn’t I?”
She nodded. “You most definitely did. Before you even picked up sword, hot guy.”
He smiled. “Know what I figured out along the way?”
“What?”
“My real world’s been a fantasy – the idea that I can save everyone and always figure it all out.”

Overall, Ms. Nicholas has penned a well-written, completely compelling novel encompassing hot sex scenes that illustrated how well these two fit together, despite the fact that they’re total opposites. The way this story ended was delightful, as Zach found comfort in the world of gaming when it seemed his life had been turned upside down with family drama. Who knew Keira had the power to change his mind on the activity? But what I liked most of all about the end was how well Zach fit in with Keira’s friends and how the toast Zach and Keira make sums up the world of gaming and life as an EMT. I would highly recommend Completely Yours by Erin Nicholas, especially if you love the opposites attract or fake relationship tropes.

Kiera Connelly leads a quiet life, and that’s just how she likes it. She’s built a name as a graphic designer and meets up with her friends online, all from the comfort of her living room couch. But when a rare outing turns disastrous, Kiera finds herself up close and way too personal with an unbelievably hot real-life hero.

Zach Ashley doesn’t see himself as a hero. He’s just a regular guy who gets to help people every day as an EMT. But when he’s called to a scene and has to treat his most gorgeous patient ever, he finds himself mixing work with pleasure. He never hesitates to put his life on the line…but will he ever risk his heart?
