Consequence of the Greek’s Revenge by Trish Morey is a passionate romance featuring a couple whose initial relationship is built on lies requiring forgiveness and redemption to have a chance at a happy ever after.

Alexios Kyriakos is a billionaire but money is not his concern. Revenge is the name of the game. Specifically revenge on Stavros Nikolides who had the temerity to die before Alexios could enact his plan to ruin him for what Stavros did to his parents. Needing an outlet for his rage, he pins his hopes on Athena Nikolides, Stavros’s daughter. She’s an unknowing pawn when Alexios seeks her out after she’s become the sole heir to the Nikolides fortune. Alexios seduces Athena and his plan seems to be working out as he’d hoped, until the unexpected happens. Will he find that revenge is not worth the price?

This is my first time reading this author, and I enjoyed how she worked with the tried and true revenge romance trope to write a dramatic and convincing story. Athena is completely taken in by Alexios and though Alexios’s conscience starts to niggle at him about whether his plan will backfire, he still goes through with his plan to deceive her into signing away her inheritance, breaking Athena’s heart in the process. The money isn’t really an issue for her, having never been rich in the first place so having someone steal it out from under her leaves her where she was at the start. It’s the breaking of trust that causes the real damage.

Soon enough Athena finds herself in another bind, linked to Alexios by an unexpected pregnancy. He’d thought he could forget about her easily, but fate has other plans. Alexios is a strong, arrogant character, but it’s not too late for him to realize his mistakes and do the right thing. I liked seeing him go through that difficult process of self-realization and humbling of attitude to show Athena that he’s worthy of a second chance. Athena through all this is a kind and generous person, and she has a stronger backbone than Alexios gave her credit for. Their love scenes are hot and steamy and the sexual attraction between them is as strong after their initial fallout as it is at the beginning, which helps them when it comes time to doing the hard work of forgiveness and healing.

I really enjoyed the secondary plotline of Athena’s work as an archeologist studying ancient Greek Minoan society and its destruction. Her scenes with her mentor Loukas were sweet and give insight into her generous nature. Just because she has access to money (either through her own fortune before Alexios gets his hands on it, or via Alexios’s funds) doesn’t mean she plans to fritter it away and she clearly loves her job. The setting is in various Greek locations which enhances the authenticity of the story. All the aspects come together in an entertaining way and it’s an enjoyable read.
