Courtship of the Cake (Much “I Do” About Nothing #2) by Jessica Topper: Dani and Mick experienced an Courtship-of-the-Cakeinstant and undeniable chemistry when they met during her sister’s wedding last year. Neither have forgotten that night. Dani is determined to avoid her mistakes and is excited to join a rock tour as a massage therapist.

While on tour, Dani comes to know the infamous Nash. Nash fully enjoys the perks of being a star with the requisite parties, drinking, drugs, and groupies. They have an interesting first meeting as Dani is less than impressed with the sexy playboy.

“Oh look, everyone. A poet! So talented. Is that an Artist pass? No? Just the hired help?” He stared me down. “You do know who I am, right?”
“Yep. A drunk asshole with his own tour bus. Color me impressed.”

Dani loves being able to help keep all of the artists on tour healthy through massage. She’s also able to get to know Nash during their appointments. When Nash needs a fiancée for a special trip, Dani reluctantly agrees. They’ve found a way to get along and she hopes this will help her finally put Mick behind her.

Mick is back in his hometown and running his family’s bakery. He loves to create and bake amazing confections. He’s surprised and dismayed when Nash returns…with his fiancée Dani in tow. Mick still hasn’t gotten over that night and is determined to get Dani back.

And this wedding wasn’t going to happen, not if I had anything to say or do about it. And suddenly I knew exactly what I was going to do. I was going to go above and beyond. I was going to exceed expectations.
I was going to ruin their day.

Courtship of the Cake is an amusing romantic comedy with a convenient engagement, secrets, drama, misunderstandings, and surprises. Jessica Topper created an interesting cast of characters with some unexpected (and some expected) interconnections. Ms. Topper provided wonderful descriptions of Mick’s creations that make you wish you could try them yourself.

Fans of Kate Meader and Jennifer McKenzie would enjoy Courtship of the Cake.
