Deep Focus by Erin McCarthy: Out from under the lens of a photographer will Melly be able to find her focus?

Deep-FocusMelanie, Melly, Ambrose was so reserved, so planned, so straight laced but she needed to break out of the mold she needed to revive her relationship. So in order to prove to her boyfriend and herself she could do it, she booked them on an inclusive retreat to Cancun. However instead of going with her, at the last minute her boyfriend sends her with a bodyguard, a note and a message that is going to change the direction her life is going.

Hunter Ryan is a former Marine turned bodyguard. Hunter isn’t any good at relationships or really at feelings or human interaction. Now he has what he thinks is a cake job, accompany a young attractive female to Cancun and protect her from a stalker. What he doesn’t expect is to be caught up in a relationship drama or to call into question all of his work morals.

When Hunter is assigned to Melanie neither of them really know what the relationship should be or how to interact with one another but after a week in Cancun they are even more confused. Will they be able to bring the heat of Cancun with them back to Chicago? Or will the windy city blow out any flame they may have had.

Ms. McCarthy takes the reader on a vacation of a lifetime. These characters break my heart and warm it at the same time. While I would have loved to learn more about Hunter and Melanie they were given enough depth to be real and relatable, while keeping the story moving and relatively short. The story is fantastic for those looking to read about finding love when you least expect it, damaged partners, and those who want to read about realizing when love hits it doesn’t ask you questions it’s just there. Pick this up for a quick, beachy, happy read.

Her Rebound Resolution

This is so not the romantic vacation she planned! Instead of a let’s-rekindle-this-relationship getaway, PR rep Melanie Ambrose is en route to Cancun with a Dear Jane letter and Hunter Ryan, her smoking-hot new bodyguard. To make matters worse, there’s only one available room at the hotel she booked…with one bed!

The truth is, Melanie has been so career-focused that she’s ignored what she wants. And faced with sun, sand, and an incredibly sexy companion, a deliciously hot and naughty fling seems the exact thing to help her reset her focus. But as the days pass, Melanie wants to change their arrangement so this doesn’t end when they get back on the plane…

Thanks for the review, Valerie. It sounds interesting. I’m curious why her boyfriend broke up with her with a Dear Jane letter.
