Everything-She-WantedEverything She Wanted by Jennifer Ryan: Kate grew up in the foster system and now works as a social worker. She’s dedicated to her job and loves to help kids find ways to succeed. She’s also very independent and has no plans to fall in love. Ben is a passionate attorney who runs a shelter for abused women. He’s also sexy, charming, and lonely. A lot of his friends have paired off and starting families, so he’s started thinking about life differently.

Through their work, Ben and Kate have run into each other a few times and both have felt the attraction. Ben is intrigued, but these feelings have sent Kate running in the opposite direction until tragedy strikes. Ben immediately steps in to help Kate, which means that they’ll be spending quite a bit of time together.

She stared at his chest, resisting the urge to pull him back in for another sultry kiss. “This is so not like me.”
Ben touched his finger to her chin and made her raise her gaze to meet his. “This is who you are with me.”

Kate’s life has undergone significant changes, including the ever-present threat of danger. Kate is a strong woman who insists that she’s more than capable of thwarting their mutual enemy. She’s also a bit of a smartass who is willing to provoke her enemy, if needed. Ben and Kate have gotten really close, and Ben refuses to lose her. His insistence on protecting and caring for her is sweet and endearing.

“Damnit, Kate. Give them time to sort through the evidence and make their case.”
“That’s what lawyers do. Someone needs to take him down now.”
“It doesn’t have to be you.”
“Who, then? Who will see justice done? Who will make them stop?”

Everything She Wanted is filled with enough suspense that you’ll want to keep turning the pages. Jennifer Ryan keeps the story moving with surprises, drama, heat, and humor. Ms. Ryan provides a great cast of characters with very distinct personalities. Everything She Wanted can be read as a standalone. Fans of Bella Jewel and Jo Davis will enjoy Everything She Wanted.

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Ryan returns to The Hunted series

Ben Knight has spent his life protecting those in need and helping abused women escape their terrible circumstances. He’ll stop at nothing to save the lives of his clients, especially the hauntingly beautiful Kate Morrison, a woman threatened by a man whose wealth allows him to get away with everything—including murder.

Kate’s days spent as a social worker, fighting for those unable to help themselves, means she’s spent her fair share of time in a court room. She and Ben have crossed paths, but never that professional line. When he agrees to aid her in putting Evan Faraday behind bars where he belongs, she must trust the sexy lawyer with her life and that of a precious baby.

Will Kate learn to trust Ben in time to save herself, and will they have a chance to explore the love blossoming between them before it’s too late?

I loved this book. Jennifer Ryan is my favorite new to me author. I just discovered her books a couple of months ago. I downloaded this book the day it came out and I don’t do that very often. All her books can be read as standalones. I will finish The Right Bride tonight.
