Finding Fraser by K.C. Dyer: At 29, Emma is at a crossroads and she decides to go on an Finding-Fraseradventure to find a real-life Jamie Fraser. After getting a divorce and losing her job, she knows that she needs a change. She’s undaunted by the idea of traveling alone in Scotland during the winter and on limited funds in order to follow the footsteps of her favorite fictional couple, Jamie and Claire from Outlander.

Emma knows that her family, especially her sister, most likely won’t take the news well. Emma and Sophia are total opposites, with Emma being the more spontaneous of the two. Emma follows an interesting path from giving up everything that ties her to Chicago to New York, and then on to Scotland.

While Emma has an overall plan in mind, she quickly realizes that even the best laid plans quickly go awry. She finds herself taking a number of detours on her path to find the key places in Jamie Fraser’s life and her quest for her own Jamie.

And even as star-struck as this voyage had been from the start, I had no real expectations of a Highland warrior suddenly manifesting for my approval. I couldn’t quite remember just what I had been thinking at the onset of this journey, but the route I had taken had provided dreamy young Scottish men in distinctly short supply.

As she travels along, Emma documents her travels and search for Jamie in a blog. She finds herself enjoying the blog more than she expected as she relays all of ups and downs along the way. She even writes about the men she finds along her journey, to the delight of her followers. As she spends more time in Scotland, she finds that she has fallen in love with the people and the country.

He shrugged a little. “Not so very much screaming. Their nurse gave you the shot almost right away.”
I swallowed, trying to remember if I’d ever had a more embarrassing moment. The only one I could think of was the night I crawled out of the bar in Philadelphia.
And Jack had been there, too.

Finding Fraser is a humorous tale of finding yourself in the Scottish Highlands. KC Dyer made great use of the blog and vivid descriptions of Scotland. Ms. Dyer created many entertaining secondary characters along Emma’s travels. Emma is definitely a very realistic character, but she could be frustrating. Some of the plot points could be easily determined before Emma figures it out. Fans of Jamie Beck and Radhika Sanghani will enjoy Finding Fraser.

Sometimes searching for true love can be a little…Outlandish.

I met Jamie Fraser when I was nineteen years old. He was tall, red-headed, and at our first meeting at least, a virgin. I fell in love hard, fast and completely. He knew how to ride a horse, wield a sword and stitch a wound. He was, in fact, the perfect man.

That he was fictional hardly entered into it.

At 29, Emma Sheridan’s life is a disaster and she’s tired of waiting for the perfect boyfriend to step from the pages of her favorite book. There’s only one place to look, and it means selling everything and leaving her world behind. With an unexpected collection of allies along the way, can Emma face down a naked fishmonger, a randy gnome, a perfidious thief, and even her own abdominal muscles on the journey to find her Fraser?
