Her-Forever-HeroHer Forever Hero by Melody Anne gives a two people a second chance at love. Grace and Camden have a history together, a long one. Once upon a time, these two characters loved each other, but circumstances got in the way and they parted on bad terms. It only takes one person or one situation to ruin something so meaningful. People grow up and make mistakes, but with time comes forgiveness…or so you hope.

After reading the blurb I couldn’t wait to dive into this story, however, the story itself did not hold my attention and I had to fight with myself just to finish the book. The book is well-written and the cover is charming. It’s the characters I have a problem with.

Grace is back in town and Camden is eager to pick up where they left off, long ago, but Grace can’t forgive him. This goes on for quite a while. Camden is constantly pressuring Grace to let the past remain in the past and to give them a chance at a future and Grace is constantly turning him down. Here’s the thing…Cam didn’t come off as hero material to me. Don’t get me wrong, when Grace is in trouble he comes to her aid and is ready to fight anyone for her, but his personality didn’t work for me. He’s persistent, which isn’t a bad thing, but he came off too controlling…like restraining order controlling. I didn’t care for him and felt like Grace only caved because he wouldn’t leave her alone. One of the qualities I liked about Grace was her strength.

“You’re one of the strongest women I know, Grace, and it’s been nice to catch you in a weak moment.”

But after a while, it’s like she gave up because it was a losing battle. Everyone wanted her back with Camden and the pressure got to her. She’s never known love. Her parents never cared for her and she has horrible taste in men, but in my opinion, she settled for Camden.

I struggled with this rating and there were times when I wanted to rate it lower, but then the author would write a memorable line that was really beautiful and a testament to how good they are with words…

“True love never dies. It may dim, and it may drift to the far reaches of your mind if you allow it to, but all it takes is a spark, a scent, a memory, and in a flash, you’re back at the moment your heart fluttered for the first time.”

Overall, Her Forever Hero wasn’t for me, but readers need to form their own opinion on this book. If you love this author or have read the other books in this series then you should grab this book.

Not fond of restraining orders! If he’s bordering on abusive and she caves because she’s tired of the pressure, this is not the book for me. Thanks for the head’s up.

You might interpret the characters different than I do. The hero came off controlling to me, but maybe not to others.
