Her Lakeside Family By Lenora Worth: In “Her Lakeside Family”, the reader meets Santo and Davina, characters who are both trying to overcome past sadness and to prove their worth to themselves. Santo, a local businessman in Millbrook Lake, Florida, is a recent widower raising his three young children.

His family’s past connection to organized crime hangs over his head especially due to the nature of his wife’s passing. Santo feels like he must prove to himself and his community that his business is now clean. Davina, a young lady he hires to renovate his two homes, is a contractor and designer trying to succeed in a typically male run industry. Davina is extremely talented and quickly impresses Santo as well his newly hired nanny and children. Davina feels torn between her work in Florida and helping her struggling family back in Louisiana, especially due to her father’s failing health She and Santo start to feel a growing attraction beyond their professional relationship.

Both work hard to fight this attraction. Santo is constantly struggling to be there for his children who are missing their mother, especially his oldest child who is bullied by other children because of her late mother’s past behavior. this aspect of the story highlights’ the sadness and great harm caused by bullying. I appreciate and enjoy the emphasis placed on family and community in this novel.
