High Speed Holiday by Katy Lee: I love a good romance and a good high-speed-holidaysuspense, so when the two genres are successfully combined it makes for a win- win in a book! And, I enjoyed reading Katy Lee’s writing for the first time. There seem to be quite a few new authors in the Love Inspired Line, and all are quite gifted at weaving a story!

The main heroine of High Speed Holiday is female police chief Sylvie, who meets Ian while watching her teenage son compete at a race track. The story’s pace picks up quickly when Sylvie’s son is injured in the race at the same time Ian is shot by an unseen attacker. Sylvie is torn between her son and finding out who the shooter is and protecting Ian, a newcomer to the town.

Sylvie, a single mother, feels she has to prove herself to the town as police chief, given that many in town would rather have had a male police chief. Sylvie also provides emotional support and rescue assistance to women in abusive relationships. Her son, Jaxon, is often frustrated at how dangerous her work is and how often it takes her away from him. The father whom he never knew suddenly comes to town, complicating things further for Sylvie.

Meanwhile, Ian recently discovered he is the brother of f the town’s “reigning” family, and was kidnapped from them as a baby. He initially seeks only his share of his inheritance however, slowly comes to truly get to know his siblings. His siblings start to work closely to help him and Sylvie learn who keeps making attempts on his life, only to have the cruel surprise of who the target really is.

I hesitate to say anything further as I do not wish to spoil this for readers! I highly recommend this story!
