In My Dreams by Muriel Jensen: Sarah Reed used to be a pediatric nurse, but after losing a patient she decided to start In-My-Dreamsover. She is now an elderly caregiver and determined to never have children of her own. Sarah is loving, caring, cool and competent under pressure, and afraid of loss.

Jack Palmer has returned home after his military service and is living with his adoptive parents. He’s currently suffering from nightmares featuring his mother by birth. Jack plans to search for his two sisters who he hasn’t seen in many years.

Sarah is taking care of Jack and Ben while the Palmer’s are out of town. Jack and Ben are very close, even though they aren’t biologically brothers. Ben is a cop who is handsome, kind, and charming. Jack is really attracted to Sarah and the only problem is that she’s dating Ben! Another problem is that both Jack and Ben see children in their future, but Sarah is adamant that she won’t have children. The situation becomes more awkward when Sarah is forced to move in with Jack and Ben.

He dropped her wrist, but the turmoil in his eyes kept her rooted to the spot.

“It’s not that I don’t want it to be important,” he said. “I just wonder if you understand the problem.”

“Problem?” she asked. She felt encouraged to know that it had been more than just a kiss to him, but if that something was a problem for him, she was glad she held the wooden spoon. “What was problematic about that kiss? It was…” she struggled to find the right word and finally settled for “Wow.”

I really enjoyed the relationship and chemistry between Sarah and Jack! Both have some issues that they need to deal with, but they bring each other a measure of comfort and courage to face those issues. They support each other, even when things get difficult.

He looped his arms loosely around her.

“I might be charmed into helping,” he said, noticing that she wasn’t struggling to get away, “but telling me I have to help isn’t going to do it.”

I really enjoyed In My Dreams! Muriel Jenson created an interesting love triangle but without excessive drama and angst. Ms. Jenson had a great supporting cast of characters in the elderly group Sarah cares for and Jack and Ben’s parents.

If you enjoy a sweet romance with military heroes, cops, and strong family ties, then In My Dreams is a book for you.

Crawling on his belly through enemy fire is nothing compared to the murder that ripped Jack Palmer’s childhood apart. Now that he’s home from his tour of duty, the ex-soldier’s most critical mission lies ahead: finding his long-lost sisters. And Sarah Reed can help.

The compassionate former pediatric nurse awakens powerful feelings in Jack. Yet Sarah’s traumatic loss of a young patient prevents her from wanting a family of her own. Is Jack ready to risk his place in his adopted family for the chance to reunite with his biological one…and claim a childless future with the woman he loves?

My mother used to be a nurse at a children’s hospital and it was always hard when a patient died. This sounds like a good book.
