Lakeside Romance by Lisa Jordan: This was such a “feel good” story Lakeside-Romanceabout fresh starts, forgiveness, and about really listening to the other person’s perspective.

Sarah and Alec start off with an uneasy acquaintance when Sarah rents an apartment from him. Alec is trying to live day by day, being supportive to his extended family members, and trying to move past a very sad past with losses of loved ones. He has several walls up against future relationships with women and with teens. And he has also lost his faith. Meanwhile Sarah is trying to put difficult situations behind her to start fresh, helping the Shelby Lake teens learn life skills and to give them a support system some are lacking. Sarah and Alec gradually grow close when he helps her teach the kids cooking in exchange for her helping prepare his elderly uncles home for sale. Sarah is recovering from a broken engagement while trying to settle in to new community and figure out her next step in life. Gradually she and Alec start to respect, trust and care for each other.
Family is so very important, and this story shows the closeness and importance of having deep family ties as a support system. i can identify with this due to the blessing of being in a very tight knit family. It also shows the beauty of love formed out of a foundation of friendship. Readers of romance novels will appreciate the very sweet and special love that gradually forms between Alec and Sarah as they work hard to help those they care about most. I so enjoyed this story!

Sarah Sullivan will do whatever it takes to make her summer youth program permanent. But when she’s tasked to teach the teens basic kitchen skills, her hope goes up in flames. Not knowing the first thing about cooking, Sarah needs help. Smelling the delicious aromas coming from her neighbor’s apartment one night, she thinks she’s found her answer. Alec Seaver might know his way around pots and pans, but the lone-wolf widower doesn’t want anything to do with the free-spirited beauty next door. But after he becomes Sarah’s reluctant partner, Alec realizes that she might just be the key ingredient missing from his life.
