In Marriage Made of Secrets by Maya Blake, billionaire Cesare di Goia marriage is on the rocks and it takes an earthquake to make him see the importance of his much neglected daughter. While his wife may be acting distant, he is determined to undo the mistakes he made with his daughter and keep her close.

17738187Ava di Goia feels like an outsider in what was once their home and after the earthquake, she has finally realized that her marriage is not going to last with Cesare’s workaholic nature and constant neglect of their daughter.

Cesare wants them to give their marriage another chance for the sake of their daughter and spending time together for the summer, as a family is the right way to do so.

Although the bond between them is still undeniable, the memories, tarnished rings and broken promises make it clear that the secrets that drove them apart are still unresolved.

“You think I’m without emotion, cara?” Cesare queried so softly the hairs on her arms rose in desperate foreboding.
“Not where I’m concerned. When it comes to me, you’re as emotional as a plank of wood.”
“What are you doing?” Her question squeaked out as he captured her nape.
He didn’t answer; at least not verbally. The slow burn in his eyes and the steady pressure of his fingers on her skin told its own story. With effortless ease, he pulled her into contact with his body. When he had her close enough, he boldly cupped her bottom.
“Cesare!”

Marriage Made of Secrets has a suspense element in the form of secrets, which Cesare hides from Ava and they are driven apart because of them. Ava was a feisty heroine, who had to question and drive Cesare to the edge every time, though he did not mind it and rather enjoyed their confrontations. Cesare was secretive, workaholic and preferred being on his own most of the time. The non-fairytale turn the story takes at the end might bother some readers, having said that the romance was scorching hot and the chemistry between the main characters makes the story an enjoyable read even without any substantial plot.

Overall, Marriage Made of Secrets is a well written story with amazing chemistry between the characters. The feminist in you would love the heroine but stay away if you don’t like feisty heroines 😉
