In Melting the Ice Queen’s Heart by Amy Ruttan, Dr. Gavin Brice isn’t used to staying in one place but for the sake of his orphaned nieces he leaves his unconventional but effective medical practice in Africa and relocates to San Francisco. He already has too much on his plate so he does not expect an inconvenient attraction to his new boss, The frosty Dr. Virginia Potter who clearly disapproves of his maverick ways.

Virginia is not looking for any commitment and her ice queen persona certainly helps to thaw any unwanted attention-but after one amazing kiss, the ice begins to thaw….

Melting the Ice Queen’s Heart by Amy Ruttan is a well written medical romance about finding love in the most unexpected places. Gavin was an absolute delight as a hero because he was so unconventional in everything he did. Virginia appears to be very frigid and cold on the outside but she is very vulnerable on the inside. She has built all these walls around her to protect herself but with Gavin’s help, she begins to trust again. There were many times I wanted to just shake some sense in her but I think the story made it all worthwhile.

The romance is slow paced and there isn’t any hard core intimacy until the last few pages. The medical details were enjoyable to read. The only thing that did not quite work for me was the high level of predictability and though sometimes its good when the story progresses the way you are expecting it to–Unexpected plot twist certainly help make the story more interesting for me..

Overall, Melting the Ice Queen’s Heart by Amy Ruttan is for anyone who loves to see the ice queen thaw with a little help from the hero. If you like slow paced but enjoyable romance then go for this one
