Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher is a novella filled with mystery that leaves you guessing throughout.

Never-NeverCharlize “Charlie” Margaret Wynwood, 17, wakes up with no memory while at school. As she tries to figure out what’s going on, she discovers her supposed boyfriend Silas Nash is also in the dark. As they try to piece together who they are and what has happened to them, you find yourself doing the same. When they make mental notes, you are right there with them. As clues are revealed, we find out they live in a world of darkness. Both of their family lives are far from perfect. Their relationship, we come to find, was also deeply flawed. These ugly truths drag you deeper into their story.

I soaked up every piece of information that was made available to me. These teens from New Orleans become amateur detectives struggling to make sense of their present while learning about their troublesome pasts. I was craving more with every page that passed.

Charlie is stubborn and abrasive. She comes off as cold at times. Silas is a much more sympathetic character. I connected with him whilst being frustrated by Charlie. Silas is more sensitive, more open to what he feels. I could tell Colleen Hoover wrote Silas’s chapters while Tarryn Fisher wrote Charlie’s. It was a collaboration that I thought worked well. At this stage I felt it was more mystery than romance, but these two have potential. I read a lot and this tale is unlike anything I have read before.

Everything you read seems important to remember, so I read this one carefully and slowly. There were many moments where I gasped, surprised by a new revelation, a new truth uncovered. Yes, there is a major cliffhanger and I can’t wait to continue this tale of Charlie and Silas as answers only lead to more questions. What are their true feelings for each other? What are they up against? I eagerly await part two.
