In New Year Wedding for the Crown Prince by Meredith Webber, Crown Prince Charles of Livaroche is in town to meet the grandmother he never had the chance to know because of the rift between his mother and her parents. However, he never imagined he’d find himself falling in love with the pregnant woman he meets the moment he arrives at his grandmother’s doorstep. Will Charles be able to convince Jo to take a chance on him or will she walk away from her shot at happy ever after?

”We’ll need two keys,” she said firmly. “I’ll get another one cut.”
“That’s fine,” he said. “It’s really no big deal and, who knows, this might be fun.”
“Fun?” Jo echoed, hardly able to believe he’d just voiced her thoughts. “What might just be fun?”
He grinned back at her. “Might take us both back to carefree, student days.”

Ms. Webber writes interesting characters and I’ve got to admit that I loved the hero and heroine as well as the hero’s grandmother in this book, as the woman gets to know her grandson and the hero discovers the real reason why his mother never repaired her relationship with his grandmother. The way this story started had me liking the hero immediately, as I could understand why he wants to know all about his mother because he never got the chance to know her. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as the first time they meet is kind of cute because of what the heroine does to the prince.

As for the dialogue, it was a wonderful combination of intense moments due to the main characters back storied and sometimes playful banter that had me loving how the hero’s grandmother subtly matchmakes and had me loving the heroine’s determination to help the hero learn about his mother. Will the hero have a relationship with his grandmother or will she turn him away like the woman did to his mother? Moreover, I really liked the heroine because she’s resilient, courageous, selfless because of what she’s doing for others when it comes to her pregnancy and I liked the decisions she makes when it comes to her future. How could she consider giving up her chance at happiness with the hero just because she doesn’t believe she’s good enough for him in his position as a prince, especially when the hero believes she’s more than good enough?

Jo echoed. “I would have thought attraction was complicated enough.”
“And love?”
Jo stepped back, breaking the loose hold he’d had on her body. “Love?” Another echo! “How could it possibly be love? You’re a prince, you need a princess, or someone close to princess status at least. You can’t go falling in love with a redheaded nobody from a village so small it’s not on most maps. Besides which you barely know me, and I threw a bucket of water over you.”

While the hero, I absolutely loved him. He’s confident, persistent, charming when it comes to his determination to win his grandmother over and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over too. I also liked the growing bond the hero had with his grandmother, as it goes from the pair being guarded to his grandmother opening up to him when they’re both ready. Besides, it’s understandable why his grandmother never made things right with the hero’s mother with what happened. His mother deserved to be happy instead of burdened by a heavy dose of guilt.

Overall, Ms. Webber has delivered a really good read in this book where I couldn’t help but sympathize with the hero’s grandmother not making things right with her daughter because of what happened to cost their relationship; the chemistry between this couple was strong and had me loving their growing relationship, as the hero convinces the heroine that she’s the one he wants; the romance was delightful; and the ending had me loving the hero’s determination to win the heroine’s heart. No way can he let her go, especially when they have such a strong connection. I would recommend New Year Wedding for the Crown Prince by Meredith Webber, if you enjoy medical romance, the opposites attract trope or books by authors Karin Baine, Annie Claydon, Tina Beckett and Charlotte Hawkes.

This sounds like a good book. I’m going to have to add it to my reading list.
