Newborn on Her Doorstep by Ellie Darkins: With the ring of a doorbell everything can Newborn-on-Her-Doorstepchange. However no matter how much you want it to you can’t outrun your past. So the question is how are you going to handle the changes and the past?

Lily Baker really wanted a family, her family. Her parents were long gone and her sister was out of touch. When her doorbell rings and she discovers a baby while everything is turning upside down in her life she does realize that she might just have gotten a family delivery.

Dominic, Nic, Johnson was never going to do family again, at least not one of his own. After having suffering the loss of his future family early on he decided he wasn’t going to chance it again so he moved forward making life better for children everywhere.

When Nic meets his sister’s best friend in the middle of a crisis he is hit by two things: he really wants to be with this woman and he wants nothing to do with her or what is going on in her life right now. So in the end the question becomes what do you do when you can’t outrun your past anymore?

Ms. Darkins has given the reader a very emotional read with this novel, though surprisingly more with Nic’s side then with Lily’s side. She definitely creates an unusual story line that leaves the reader reaching for a box of tissues multiple times. Her characters are well developed though focused more on Nic’s side of things. This isn’t an erotic read by any stretch. It is an emotional, heart wrenching novel that will leave you grateful for happy endings but heart broken for all those that have to experience Nic’s situation.

Sounds good, you don’t see many books with the baby left at the doorstep.
