One of These Nights by Kendra Leigh Castle: Jason loves his job as a park ranger. He’s One-of-These-Nightsable to be outdoors all day where he gets more time with animals than humans. He’s shy, but Zoe brings out a very different side to him. Since Zoe opened up her art gallery in Harvest Cove, Jason has made a point to coming to the gallery and sparing with her. Their antagonism seemed to be a cover for the intense attraction at play that both were willing to ignore. When Jason breaks his leg, it’s Zoe who comes to his rescue.

In an effort to make the upcoming visit from his mom bearable, Jason invents a romantic relationship with Zoe. They agree to have a fake relationship so that Jason’s mom heads back to Florida more quickly. But all the time together forces them to actually talk to each other instead of fight. They begin to learn more and correct their mistaken assumptions.

“Do you want me to submit a formal request or something? I didn’t know this was going to require paperwork.”
“There’s an online request form,” Zoe replied. “And then you’ve got to give me seven to ten business days for processing.”
He exhaled, an almost-laugh, and began to get to his feet. “You’re more of a smartass than I thought you were.”

Zoe helps to balance out Jason’s sometimes intimidating and gruff manner. Their interactions change from fighting to banter during their relationship. Jason’s mom is quite the experience, and I loved how protective Zoe is of those she cares for.

“Things tend not to go awry around here, Dr. Watson.”
She made a face. “Funny.”
“Do you also use the words ‘hullaballoo’ and ‘squiffy’?”
“I’ll be using a number of things in conjunction with your posteriur, most of them sharp objects, if you aren’t nice. There’s nothing wrong with having an extensive vocabulary, Treebeard.”

One of These Nights is a fun and delightful read that I just didn’t want to put down. Kendra Leigh Castle brought to life Jason and Zoe, whose antagonism finally comes to a head. Ms. Castle created two engaging characters where opposites most definitely attract. One of These Nights can be read as a standalone book in the series. Fans of Brenda Novak, Susan Mallery, and Jill Shalvis would enjoy One of These Nights!

From the author of Every Little Kiss, a heartwarming novel that proves sometimes the only way to let people in is to let go…

Moving to Harvest Cove has been like a dream come true for Zoe Watson, providing her with a job she loves and close friends she considers practically family. The only problem: a certain prickly—albeit handsome—park ranger who can’t seem to help tracking mud into her art gallery…or showing up in her dreams.

Jason Evans swore off relationships the day his ex-wife walked out the door, and the local gallery owner is no exception. But when an accident forces him to accept the one thing he hates most in the world—help—he discovers that with Zoe in his life, there are more highs than lows. Despite their long-simmering attraction, neither Jason nor Zoe thinks that two people with so little in common could possibly have a future together. But one of these nights, they may just discover how alike they are.…
