In Saved by Doctor Dreamy by Dianne Drake, Dr. Juliette Allen is sick of her father still treating her like she’s his little girl that needs his help with everything including finding a job or getting a promotion. So, she’s decided to quit her job and move to Costa Rica to pursue something different. Except her new job isn’t giving her the adventure she wants, so she volunteers to work as a doctor alongside Damien Caldwell. However, neither are looking for a relationship, and yet, they both seem to fall hard. But when something happens to one of them, will the other be able to save them, or will their time together be up?

”OK, Romeo,” Juliette said to Diego, as she took his unwounded hand and led him into the exam room. “Let’s see what we can do about fixing this up.”
“My name is Diego, not Romeo!” he said defiantly.
“Where she comes from, they mean the same thing,” Damien said from the doorway.
Juliette flashed Damien a knowing look. “Where I come from, women never have to worry about advances from ten-year-old boys.”

What an enjoyable, fast-paced read Ms. Drake has penned in this story about a heroine wanting to become more independent, a hero running from his past and where the plot kept me entertained from start to finish due to the medical challenges these two face, their back stories and their growing relationship. The way this story started had me liking the heroine immediately, as she’s not about to let anyone change her mind when it comes to her decision. It’s about time her father realizes that he can’t continue to interfere in her life, especially when she doesn’t agree with the decisions he makes for her. Then again, I could understand why it was so hard for her to make the decision that she does when she and her dad only have each other.

Both the main characters were wonderful, and I liked how the heroine stood up to Damien when he was in the wrong, which felt like quite often. She’s a pampered princess due to being a daddy’s girl and from a family that has money, but Juliette is determined to prove her worth and show she has what it takes to survive without money and her father’s support. Will the heroine be able to endure the challenges thrown at her? Will she win the hero over when she reminds him so much of his ex when they first meet? Also, what the heroine has done by being in Costa Rica and working shows how resilient and courageous she is, because she’s certainly stepped out of her comfort zone.

While Damien, he’s running from his past because it seemed he wasn’t good enough in the eyes of his ex’s parents and being made to feel that way led to some stupid decisions which still haunt him. So, I could understand why he wasn’t interested in getting involved with another woman, especially someone that reminded him of his ex until Juliette proves him wrong. Also, I liked how kind and caring he was towards his patients and what he was willing to do for two kids that had no-one. Will the children and the heroine make him see that he’s done enough to make up for how badly he messed up in the past?

Juliette stepped up to him, her face to his back, but maintained a few inches of separation between them. “Then ask me, Damien. Ask me what I want.”
He wanted to, but did he really have that right. “If I ask you, then what?”
“Then I’ll know that, for the first time in my life, someone values me for who I am and not for who they want me to be.”

Overall, Ms. Drake has penned a really good read in this book where the chemistry was wonderful, the main characters illustrate really well that opposites do attract, and the ending was gratifying, despite the concern I had for one of the main characters. Moreover, I liked how things worked out for Juliette and Damien and the words they say to each other to express the love they have for each other. No way could Damien let Juliette get away, not when he loved her so much. I would recommend Saved by Doctor Dreamy, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Susan Carlisle, Sue MacKay or Lucy Clark.
