In Searching for Disaster (Searching For #4.6) by Jennifer Probst, Searching-for-DisasterIsabella MacKenzie is relishing her new job at Kinnections matchmaking agency in Verily, New York. A former free spirit and wild child, she feels like she’s finally found where she’s meant to be. Now if she could just find a guy to complete the picture. But try as she might, Izzy can’t help but compare every man she meets to the memory of Liam, someone who was in her life for just one night. Imagine her surprise when she finds out that her new friends want to set her up with none other than Liam, now known as Officer Devine. Is it fate trying to bring them together? Or is it just a reminder of the terrible choices Izzy made in her past she’s trying to forget?

“Liam.”
His name spilled from her lips in a sultry whisper, dissipating high above the stars. “Don’t think. Don’t worry.” He lowered his head with deliberate slowness, wanting to savor every second. “Just kiss me.”

Officer William Devine has always wanted to be on the police force. And the small quirky town of Verily has proven to be a great match for him. He’s got a nice fixer-upper house to work on in his spare time, and a great partner in Officer Stone Petty who keeps him on his toes. But he can’t help wondering what might have been if things would have turned out differently with wildly sexy Izzy. Then Liam comes face to face with the woman who haunts his dreams and knows he’s been given a second chance to make things right. And he’s determined that this time he won’t let her walk away without giving them a fighting chance.

“You, Liam Devine, are an extraordinary man.”
Shock filled his beautiful blue eyes. “I wish you could see as clearly as I do, Isabella. You’re just as extraordinary. And I believe we met again in Verily because our story wasn’t over yet. I believe it’s just the beginning.”

It’s tough to let these characters go after following this series from the beginning. But Jennifer Probst didn’t disappoint, ending things perfectly with this final touching and absolutely charming novella.

The Searching For series has ended on the best possible note, with Izzy and Liam rounding out the powerhouse couples we’ve met along the way. I felt the connection right away between these two. They were polar opposites in terms of their personalities, but I thought Liam and Izzy had enough similar interests–and enough attraction between them–to make their relationship seem like they were meant to be together. It was an interesting balance with her troubled past and his job in law enforcement. And I really liked that Liam was the one who trusted his instincts, pushing Izzy just enough to show her how good they could be together if she would only trust in herself and believe she was good enough to deserve love in her life.

Of course with this being the last in the series, we got to spend a bit of time with previous characters/couples and see what they were up to now. I kind of fell in love with Kate, Kennedy, Arilyn and Gen all over again. This novella reminded me of why I’ve faithfully followed the Kinnections crew from the beginning and why I love Probst’s heartfelt writing. The friendships between all of the ladies (and men) were still spot-on and just as strong as ever. And that wonderful close-knit community feeling with this being set in Verily made me smile and wish to visit there myself.

Love and laughter dominated Searching for Disaster, just as it has all of the other stellar romances in this series. I think fans will cheer on Liam and Izzy from their sexy beginning, to their choice in super-cute pets, and definitely with their much deserved, completely sigh-worthy HEA.

It did! Probst has a great writing style anyway but the way she included everyone in this final book was pretty much perfect.
