Secrets and Lies by Shirlee McCoy: I could not put this book down! Ariel is such an Secrets-and-Lies-coveridentifiable c haracter, and someone I felt I could be friends with in real life.

This book, Secrets and Lies, tells a few stories that intertwine. One is about Ariel Martin, a teacher who has come to the town of Desert Valley for a fresh start, and hopes to make a home for herself and her soon to be born child. Secrets and Lies also tells the story of Tristan, a K9 officer, and his relationship with Mia, the sister he is raising. As Mia is also Ariel’s student, these stories come together very early on when Tristan responds to a 911 call for help from Ariel.

Secrets and Lies follows Ariel and Tristan as he tries to protect her from harm, and also while he and his colleagues try to solve some unsolved cases.

I stayed up late to finish this book as it was impossible to put down. I now want to read the earlier books in the series to learn about the other members of the Desert Valley community, and the other K9 Officers who are like a family to each other. The relationship between Tristan and his sister Mia is very special an d touching. And it was heartwarming to read about the growing closeness between Tristan and Ariel as he works to protect her from harm.

I already have this in paperback, but will be starting with Terri Reed’s book in this series very soon. I always enjoy these interconnected series from Love Inspired. Great review.
