Seducing the Defendant by Chantal Fernando: Jaxon is a sexy, charming, and brilliant attorney. He loves the challenge of defending his clients and has built quite the reputation. After losing his sister, he’s looking to bury himself in the latest case, except his client is more than a little distracting.

Scarlett may come from money, but she’s down to earth and just wants to return to a more normal existence. Normal will be a struggle after being accused of killing her no good husband who just so happened to have been a cop.

Jaxon is Scarlett’s best chance of fighting the murder charge, but she hates that such a sexy, competent, and protective man has to know all the details of her marriage. Jaxon is more than capable of winning a case stacked against her, but she’s tired of being a victim. He slowly draws out the Scarlett she was before her marriage and they become more like friends than a strict lawyer/client relationship.

“So you can fry, grill, and boil,” I surmise, rolling my eyes. “So, can women eat those foods, or no?”
He smirks, shaking his head in amusement. “Feeling sassy tonight, hey?”
“Something like that, but you walked into that one.” I sigh and glare up at him. “Manly food.”

Jaxon is determined to prove her innocence, especially as he digs into her husband’s past and the life he was leading. He always gives 100% to his clients, but she’s the first to really get to him on a more personal level and definitely the first to tempt him into mixing business and pleasure. They are drawn to each other and he makes her feel safe.

“Nope, I can’t do it. I’m paying. And I’ll cook dinner tomorrow night. I’ll make a scene.”
She slides her wallet back in and expels a deep sigh. “You are something else, Jaxon Bentley.”
“I’m yours,” I state simply.

Seducing the Defendant is engaging, surprising, and oh so hot. Chantal Fernando created a good balance between character development, romance, friendship, and drama around the murder charge. Ms. Fernando created an entertaining and diverse cast of characters. Seducing the Defendant can be read as a standalone in the Conflict of Interest series. Fans of Cecy Robson and Caisey Quinn will enjoy Seducing the Defendant.

New York Times bestselling author Chantal Fernando returns to her latest, steamy Conflict of Interest series with this electrifying tale of murder, justice, and intense attraction.

Jaxon Bentley is a hardnosed criminal lawyer whose entire life revolves around his work. He’s been asked to represent Scarlett Reyes, a woman accused of murdering her police officer husband in cold blood. All the evidence points to Scarlett being guilty and Jaxon is sure it’s an open and shut case.

But when he meets his client, he can’t help but feel that she’s innocent and that there’s more to the story than meets the eye. With a bit of digging, he uncovers a connection to the notorious Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club and realizes that Scarlett’s case is a complicated and difficult one. It certainly doesn’t help that the two share an immediate and passionate attraction. Will Jaxon be able to prove Scarlett’s innocence or are the two doomed to fail both in court and as a couple?
