In Stormchaser (Cutter Cay #4) by Cherry Adair, Marine archaeologist Dr. Calista West is used to being the odd person out when it comes to joining salvage teams on their missions. She usually arrives after everyone has bonded on their journey to the site, showing up as the expert/voice of reason and keeps her head down as she does her work. But right away, Callie is thrown for a loop when she boards the Stormchaser, Jonah Cutter’s impressive yacht. She feels an attraction to Jonah that is completely out of character for her. And considering that she’s there for nefarious purposes, their chemistry will only create more problems for everyone involved.

‘Hypnotized by his voice, by the scalding heat of his gaze, Callie longed for what she knew she shouldn’t have. But oh, dear Lord, the temptation, the driving heated urge, made her forget reason and logic.’

When Callie joins the team, Jonah’s excitement over his possibly historic find at the bottom of the ocean becomes eclipsed by his desire for her. And his attempts at keeping things platonic just fall flat. Trying not to give in and do something that he might later regret, Jonah steers clear of Dr. West as much as possible. But diving and researching daily together is inevitable. And so is their first kiss. Things become heated between Callie and Jonah, with him wondering if she could be the woman of his future–until the truth about her mission becomes clear. Then he’ll have to figure out if he can trust the gorgeous doctor while they fight to save the city he found on the bottom of the Mediterranean.

‘That kiss. Had he ever kissed a woman quite like that? Not just no, but hell no. The melding of their lips had rocked him to the core, short-circuited his synapses, and made him uncomfortably rock-hard. All that. Just from a kiss.’

Stormchaser was wild adventure and sultry romance on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea where a monumental discovery caused nothing but problems for Jonah Cutter and his motley crew of salvage divers.

‘More so now than for the months prior to this salvage, Jonah knew it with every fiber of his being: His city *was* Atlantis.’

Cherry Adair is an author that I’m familiar with and have read before but I’ll admit to being a newbie when it comes to her Cutter Cay series. Thankfully it was easy to read this as a standalone and I think it gave us a good idea of the Cutter family dynamics and background overall. And as always, Adair did a nice job of building the tension between our hero and heroine as well as with the exciting suspense portion of the story.

Jonah and Callie threw off some pretty incredible fireworks between them while they were fighting for command over the salvage mission. I liked that they were both take-charge kind of personalities but they were quite different otherwise. Jonah was sexy and a bit laid-back in his personal life while Callie was stoic and always in control. Except when it came to Jonah and her attraction to him. I wasn’t very impressed with her ulterior motive for being on board the Stormchaser and that kind of threw me at first. I’m not a huge fan of deception as a storyline but it did lead to some interesting exchanges between Callie and Jonah. It also meant she had to figure out where her loyalty truly was and for the first time she had to allow her feelings to weigh in when making a decision.

The plot itself was pretty unique and interesting, where the city they found had the possibility of being Atlantis. It was sort of like an underwater Indiana Jones adventure. 😉 The dive scenes and the crew’s excitement while researching their findings was fun and had me guessing along with them as to what they had really found. And while the action at the end of the story was a mile a minute and had me on the edge of my seat, it did feel like it came to a very quick close, with a few questions left unanswered. I have my theories on some of it but I think an epilogue would have gone a long way to wrap things up for readers.

Deception. Pulse-pounding action. Intense lust. That’s just part of what made Stormchaser a page-turner. I think fans of romantic suspense will have a blast with this nautical journey on the high seas.

No one charters the depths of passion on the high seas like New York Times bestselling author Cherry Adair

DESIRE RUNS DEEP

Somewhere off the coast of Greece, a king’s ransom in gold, emeralds, and silver coins lies waiting at the bottom of the sea. Finding this ancient treasure would be a dream come true for marine archeologist Calista West. But that’s not why she’s here. She didn’t climb aboard Jonah Cutter’s magnificent yacht seeking fortune or fame. She’s come for revenge—against the sexiest, most seductive, modern-day pirate she’s ever encountered…

Like his famous half brothers, Jonah is a master of salvaging ships—and driving women mad with his movie-star looks and raw animal magnetism. Tall, dark, and devastating, he manages to make Callie forget her mission. Every moment they share under the hot Mediterranean sun is an erotically-charged adventure neither can resist. But when Callie discovers what he’s really after—the lost city of Atlantis—is it too late to change the course of her heart…or go all in with the lover of her dreams?
