The-EscortThe Escort by Laura Marie Altom: When Liam and Ellie get married, Nathan and Carol are forced to give up their own dreams of a happily ever after with one half of the happy couple. Nathan and Carol find themselves drawn to each other as a way to get through the occasions when at least the four of them are together. Once they spend some time together, they find that they want to continue a physical relationship.

Nathan especially feels inadequate since he’s only holding a minimum wage job that’s going nowhere. He’s always comparing himself to the successful and wealthy Liam and assumes that all women will prefer someone like Liam over him. When he’s presented with an opportunity to improve his lot in life almost overnight, he decides to go all in despite Carol’s many objections.

“Maybe it’s not so much my new job you don’t like, but the fact that you’ll have to share me?”
“Share you?” She laughed. “I don’t even want you.”
“Liar…”

Despite Nathan’s new job, they find themselves spending a good deal of time together and fall into a relationship. They have great chemistry, but his job is a constant a source of conflict. Carol doesn’t like sharing him and questions her place in his life. Nathan really supports Carol when she needs it, but he can also be very stubborn and proud.

“Wow, Carol. That’s low-even for you.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You know exactly what it means. The Ice Queen has returned.”
I flinched from his cruel tone. “You don’t have to be rude.”

The Escort is a sexy and angsty tale of second chances. Some parts of the story seem exaggerated to better fuel the conflict between Nathan and Carol. Laura Marie Altom provided an interesting hero in Nathan who is still trying to find his way and his passion in life. Ms. Altom created two characters who were different in many ways, but found something very unexpected in each other. Fans of Brighton Walsh and Stephanie Tyler will enjoy The Escort.

For fans of J. Kenner and Tracy Wolff, Laura Marie Altom’s heart-wrenching new Shamed novel features two broken-hearted lovers who fall for each other—one dangerous, sizzling encounter at a time.

When the woman he loves marries billionaire Liam Stone, Nathan Black swears off dating, constantly being broke, and playing by the rules. His new gig’s not exactly legal, but the cash will help him build a solid future. Then there’s Carol Moore, Liam’s personal assistant. She and Nathan always seem to get paired up at Stone family functions—and always seem to fall into bed together afterward . . . or even during. She’s the perfect rebound. So why does Nathan want more?

After Carol’s dreamy boss gets hitched, crushing any chance of them getting back together, she finds herself hooking up with the bride’s best friend. Nathan is hot, adventurous, and makes her feel even better than chocolate does. But when one of their sexy games reveals the presence of a relentless stalker, Carol discovers that Nathan has a dangerous secret. And before long Carol is forced to choose between her safe old life and the bad boy who makes her feel like the woman she’s meant to be.
