themarriagecontractThe Marriage Contract (The O’Malleys #1) by Katee Robert: The Marriage Contract (The O’Malleys #1) is the first book in a new series by Katee Robert and is had me hooked from the first page to the last. This is a story of mob wars in Boston, arranged marriages, forming alliances, turf wars, family, loss and finding love when you least expect it.

Callista “Callie” Sheridan is a mafia princess and heir to the Sheridan Empire. Her father plans to marry her to Brendon Hallioran and she is willing to go along with his plan, until the night that Brendon mistakes her for a hooker at his club Tit for Tat and Callie is forced to make a decision to save her life by ending his. Now forces to marry someone else instead, she never would have imagined it would be someone like Teague O’Malley, or that he would affect her the way that he does.

Teague O’Malley is not interested in an arranged marriage. He wants nothing to do with his fathers business and wants desperately to get his sisters and brothers as far away from the violence that plagues their lives. That is until he first lays eyes on Callie. One look, one touch, one kiss and something inside Teague screams for him to protect her, to keep her safe and find out who has left bruises around her throat.

When a mob war starts over the death of Brendon, wanting to see the killer brought to justice, Teague and Callie will need to work together to try to stop the war. But with Callie and Teague both keeping secrets, loved ones being put in danger and worse, can these to learn to trust each other before it’s too late.

I loved Teague and Callie. What started as an arrangement between to families blossoms into a true and steady love between these two. Teague has secrets that he keeps from Callie, that he keeps from his family in order to try to save them. Callie is afraid to confide in Teague because she is afraid that she will lose him if he ever finds out what she did, what she is responsible for. The way that Teague and Callie try to protect each other and the ones that depend on them is touching and sweet.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a little mystery and suspense mixed with a sweet HEA.

Teague O’Malley hates pretty much everything associated with his family’s name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a “business” alliance, Teague’s ready to tell his dad exactly where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his new fiancée, sees the bruises on her neck and the fight still left in her big blue eyes, and vows he will do everything in his power to protect her.

Everyone knows the O’Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn’t aware just what that meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles through her. But the closer they get, the more trouble they’re in. Because Callie’s keeping a dark secret-and what Teague doesn’t know could get him killed.

Thanks for the review, Jen. I wasn’t sure about this book until this review. Now I’m willing to give it a try even though I’m not a big fan of books with mob characters.

I thought this book was a little strange. It felt very “historical” in a contemporary setting. Teague and Callier were okay, but Carrigan and James are what really pulled me in…. There are some high expectations for book 2.
