The Mighty Quinns: Eli by Kate Hoffmann: Out of the ashes comes the beautiful bird… okay so maybe not as Elidramatic as all of that but out of two “different” childhoods can come some very wonderful and lovely human beings.

Lucy Parker has bounced around for many years. Coming from foster homes, time on the streets, borrowing couches, etc. she has never really had a home nor does she know really what roots are like. Growing up she always had Trudie’s books to help her get through and now she has a chance for a year to live like Trudie in her cabin, in the wilderness, all alone. Lucy is out to prove herself.

Eli Montgomery has had wanderlust instilled in him since he was a mere babe. Women with backbones of iron, never marrying, never relying on a male raised him. From Trudie, his grandmother, who lived in a cabin in the wilderness to his mother who has climbed Everest twice, the women in his life were something else. Now he was back for a little while, taking a break in his travels.

When Lucy sees Eli bringing her supplies that first day something happens inside. For Eli he sees a strong woman in Lucy but a vulnerability as well. With their backgrounds will they ever be able to trust their feelings and allow them to help lead their decisions? Or will they forever be hiding from the hurt and the fear?

Wow. This was an interesting concept. A female wanting to live in the wilderness alone for a year filming a reality show? A male who is protective and falls into lust/love quickly, then magically inherits a fortune? It’s a little out there but suspending that for a bit Ms. Hoffman takes her readers back to the Quinn family and a hidden gem in Eli. As always her characters are well written and real. The heroine is really damaged and Eli is fairly smart in how to handle her which is kind of nice to read.

The Mighty Quinns: Eli by Kate Hoffmann is a recommended read for lovers of the Quinn family, lovers of the outdoors, and lovers of a sensitive man.

An X-rated adventure of a lifetime

Love of the wilderness runs deep in Eli Montgomery. The father he never knew, mountaineer Max Quinn, shared that passion for the untamed—and never staying in one place for long. But surviving in the wild requires experience. So when Eli learns that a TV personality is spending the next year living in his grandmother’s remote cabin for a reality show, Eli is convinced the woman will need his help.

Lucy Parker is determined to adhere to the strict guidelines of this challenge: no assistance. But the second Eli Montgomery shows up in all his rugged hotness, Lucy’s craving for caramel lattes is immediately replaced by a much more primal, sensual hunger. And out here, no one will know if she breaks all the rules.

Thanks for the review, Valerie. This sounds like an interesting concept for a story. I haven’t read any of the Quinn family book though.
