The Prince Who Loved Me by Karen Hawkins: Bronwyn Murdoch was the eldest, and the only biological daughter of her father. Her mother died while she was young and Bronwyn discovered she enjoyed books, helping her father and being more solitary TPWLMrather than dancing and socializing with the people of the neighborhood, especially the Vicar’s brother in law. Which was fine until the Vicar’s wife convinced her father that she was in need of a more motherly hand. Enter step mom and her two daughters. None of which are bad ladies or even treated her poorly, but her step mom had plans to marry her off and help her achieve what she believed every young lady’s goals should be. After a disastrous season though Bronwyn was placed on the shelf and relegated to chaperone and spinster.

Prince Alexsey Romanovin was a real honest to goodness prince. One of four brothers he really shouldn’t have to think about marriage yet, or at least that was what he thought until one of his three brothers got married which put his grandmother on the marriage mart for him. Now his womanizing days are numbered whether he wants them to be or not because what the Grand Duchess wants the Grand Duchess gets.

When Bronwyn and Alexsey met it’s a case of mistaken identities but clear chemistry. However there are many factors playing against them. Who will win? Will these two be allowed a happily ever after? Or will too many hands in this romance ruin them forever?

This is the first in the Oxenburg Princes’ series and I have to say Ms. Hawkins has given us another delightful fairy tale that is almost impossible to put down. This book does tie into her Duchess Diaries series with the book How to Purse a Princess. While the main romance is delightful and full of ups and downs, the side romance in this novel keeps the reader guessing, not to mention, not even sure about it until the end. Bronwyn is not a typical time period girl and her wake up call is definitely a light bulb moment. Alexsey on the other hand isn’t a light bulb so much as realizing he has to grow up and be a man and when he finally becomes that man he is everything. Ms. Hawkins has managed to turn this fairy tale into a seductive and intriguing time period piece that will make you wish you were Cinderella or even one of the step sisters.

A handsome, rakish prince who doesn’t believe in true love meets a stubborn lass who will settle for nothing less…

In a lighthearted retelling of a classic fairy tale, bestselling author Karen Hawkins gives Cinderella a Scottish twist!

Prince Aleksey Romanovin enjoys his carefree life, flirting—and more—with every lovely lady who crosses his path. But when the interfering Grand Duchess Natasha decides it’s time for her grandson to wed, Aleksey finds himself in Scotland, determined to foil her plans. Brainy, bookish, and bespectacled, Bronwyn Murdoch seems the perfect answer—she isn’t at all to the duchess’ taste.

Living at the beck and call of her ambitious stepmother and social butterfly stepsisters, Bronwyn has little time for a handsome flirt—no matter how intoxicating his kisses are. After all, no spoiled, arrogant prince would be seriously interested in a firm-minded female like herself. So . . . wouldn’t it be fun to turn his “game” upside down and prove that an ordinary woman can bring a prince to his knees?
