The Upside of Falling by Meghan Quinn is book one in the Blue Line duet and will take the characters on an emotional journey that will leave readers breathless and anxious. I can honestly say that no other books have ever given me anxiety, but this duet, has done just that.

Colby Brooks has only one goal and that’s to become a fighter pilot. When his friend, Stryder, drags him to a party, he meets Rory Oaks. From that point on, his life is no longer one dimensional.

Rory is beautiful, sweet, and easy to fall in love with. She has a heart of goal and changes people’s lives for the better. Life has thrown her many curveballs, but she never gives in or gives up. She rolls with them.

Colby and Rory’s attraction to each other was instant. Rory and Colby has some pretty great chemistry together and I liked how their relationship developed. I also enjoyed how Rory was able to get Colby to open up. He was a bit bruised and closed off, but Rory is able to see a different side to Colby. But Colby insists that Rory is only a distraction and being accepted to flight school is all he’s ever wanted. With dedication like that, how can any kind of romance between the two survive?

The author draws you in with her characters and their love story, but at the same time, she created a realistic romance where happy endings are worked for and might not turn out exactly as we plan it. Love is complicated and when you reach the end of this book, you’ll find out just how much. Either way, be prepared to have your emotions all over the place!

Tucked away at the base of the Rocky Mountains lived a little boy with one singular dream: leave this broken and battered home and become someone.

Be somebody’s hero.

That boy was me—Colby Brooks. Except I’m not that same little boy anymore.
My dreams might still be the same, but my reality isn’t.

I’m smarter. Stronger. A man.

And I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost.

Focus. Resolve. Determination.

But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed.

One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks.

Smart. Charming. Beautiful.

Rory changed everything.

Quickly, my one-track mind started to bend.

Each kiss faded decade-long dreams.

And with one single incident, I fly off course.
