This Hero for Hire by Cynthia Thomason: Susannah Rhodes, bad girl and Governor’s daughter, coming home for the first time 23059966in many years. While daddy might think she is there just to help his campaign, she might just have another plan. She has some good ideas and she wants a relationship with her father. She’s older now and wiser, right?

Boone Braddock, local good guy, now a cop and farmer always tries to do the right thing. So when the Governor calls your boss and asks for your help what can you do, even when you know it’s a bad thing? Yep, say of course sir.

Now the problem is Boone and Susannah have an interesting chemistry and as their time together progresses that chemistry is tested. Is she more than a job? Is he more than his land? Throw in a quirky group of farmers, a crushing cop, and a couple of brushes with the law and who knows if they will even survive the two months that they are together.

This was an interesting book. It had some great descriptions and some lack luster ones, the story bounces a lot and feels like it was written by multiple writers. There were some parts of this story that held the attention and seemed like it wouldn’t let me go, then it would bounce suddenly and seem like there was a different writer. Overall the plot was good, the characters were good and relatable. It was just a bit jumpy and didn’t flow as well as it could have.

He’s more than her protector…

Being a cop in a small Georgia town is a pretty peaceful job, and one that Boone Braddock takes pride in. Babysitting the governor’s daughter, however, isn’t Boone’s idea of police duty. Especially when it’s Susannah Rhodes, who has an impulsive streak a mile wide.

Boone was Susannah’s crush in high school. He’s still unmistakably handsome. Worse yet, it’s impossible to keep anything from him—like the real reason she’s returned home. And it’s more impossible still to keep her distance. Because a long time ago, the two had shared something special. Something that was never finished…
