In Turn Me On (Man of the Month #7) by J. Kenner, Over the years, Derek might have had a one-night stand here or there, always with both him and his lovely lady of choice knowing the score going into things. But when he has a one-off with sweet and tempting Amanda, the game suddenly changes. One night just isn’t going to be enough to satisfy Derek. So he strikes a deal with her to meet up whenever he’s in Austin, keeping things casual to start with. He has a feeling that even though Amanda seems to be enjoying their arrangement, selling her on an actual relationship might be pushing things. But he’s willing to give it a try if it means waking up with her in his arms and seeing her gorgeous face every morning for the rest of his life.

‘She’d snuck up on him, no doubt about that. And he still wasn’t sure where they were going. But he was damn sure enjoying the journey.’

When Amanda locked eyes with Derek across the bar at The Fix on Sixth, she knew their chemistry would be through the roof. While she isn’t looking for anything serious, a night of fun between the sheets with the sexy alpha businessman is something she wouldn’t turn down for anything. But when their unforgettable night of passion is over, Amanda shocks even herself when she agrees to meet Derek again. Wondering just what she’s gotten herself into, she waits for his next trip to Austin, knowing she needs to put a stop to things before she gets too attached. Having been hurt before, Amanda doesn’t want to go that route again. But Derek is too enticing, too handsome, and just too damn good a guy to let go of. And he might just be able to convince her to see what could happen if they let things get serious.

‘If this was going to be something they repeated, then it needed to be about the sex. Nothing else.
She just hoped that they reached an agreement…not to mention a mind-blowing orgasm.’

J. Kenner is keeping things exciting in her latest book in the Man of the Month series. With Turn Me On, a sexy businessman surprised himself by falling hard for a local real estate agent who was intent on keeping things in the casual category. And watching it all play out was wickedly delicious.

“I’m the man who’s going to make you beg.”

Turn Me On somehow turned up the heat on an already smexy series, taking a one-night stand trope and turning it into a full fledged romance that was oh-so satisfying. Things were a little different with Amanda and Derek’s romance than in previous books where these two didn’t have a shared history like the other couples have so far. But Kenner smartly started the timeline of this story the year previous to where the rest of the series has been set, building a backstory for Derek and Amanda. And for me it kept things from feeling too much like insta-love. We actually got to watch their relationship and friendship form and then change over the next year which proved to be so much fun.

As with most of Kenner’s characters, Amanda and Derek were both very likable as well as relatable. Derek, aka Mr. July, was at a point in his life where he’d played around socially and was focusing on his career in the family business. He wasn’t looking for a long term relationship–until he met Amanda. I liked that Derek was a nice guy who didn’t use his family’s wealth or his well-known last name to get what he wanted. He was good for Amanda in a lot of ways. But it was their genuine friendship and that camaraderie between them that I loved. (As well as their incredibly steamy love scenes, of course.)

It was interesting to watch workaholic Amanda fight her feelings for Derek with every hook up they had. She had no problem with their shared attraction. It was the emotional involvement she wanted to avoid, which I understood given her hurtful past. But once Amanda gave in, things between her and Derek moved at full speed and boy was it fan-your-face sexy!

Hot as sin yet filled with a true struggle of emotions, Turn Me On just might be my favorite installment in the Man of the Month series yet. We’ll have to see what Mr. August brings to the table, though, before making a decision…
