Twins on the Way by Janice Maynard: Gavin Kavanagh is a man filled with twins-pictrust issues. He has been selfish and has had a string of one-night stands. Cassidy Corelli is about to change all that.

While in Las Vegas to give a speech, he meets Cassidy. The two share a wild night and Cassidy loses her virginity. As the title suggests, she discovers she is pregnant. Her father, owner of a casino, cuts her off and kicks her out. She goes to North Carolina and tells Gavin the news. She moves into the guest room but Gavin demands a paternity test. Still, he can’t fight his attraction and growing feelings towards her.

“Cassidy had brightened up an existence he hadn’t even recognized as gray. She’d made him want…had made him feel.”

I found it refreshing that Cassidy told Gavin right away about her pregnancy. I’ve read many books with the “secret baby” storyline and tend to find them frustrating, so this was a nice change. Though Gavin’s behavior was unappealing, he came across as cold. Once the truth about his past was revealed, I became more sympathetic towards him. Cassidy’s love for family was heartwarming. She may be young but has a good head on her shoulders.

The pacing of this story was a bit slow, but overall this was a sweet read. Twins on the Way is a good read for anyone who believes family is most important.
