Up to Date by Susan Hatler: Ginger Nielsen is living in Sacramento with her sister. She is unhappy up-to-date-picat work and dreams of being a decorator. She dreams of a man she met a club, Greg Shaffer, an ER doctor living in San Diego.

One day she receives a call from Bob Seaver, who works at the homeless outreach program, Founding Friendships. Ginger donates her decorating services. She is set up on a blind date for the auction. At the auction, she runs into Greg and discovers he is moving to town. She leaves before the auction is over and later discovers Greg was the highest bidder. Not only that, but he is also her new neighbor.

“In order to achieve my life’s dream, I’d have to spend the next two weeks working closely with the one man who had the power to break my heart.”

She spends a lot of time with Greg in his condo where Greg is more hands-on that she thought he’d be. He wants to help and make her happy.

Ginger constantly pushes Greg away. Her father was an ER doctor who became an alcoholic and she compares the two. She is stubborn and it becomes quite frustrating to read as the story moved along. Greg is a great guy.

The romance is tame, this a clean read. The story flowed well. I recommend Up to Date to those who like quick, sweet romances and those who have enjoyed Susan Hatler’s previous books.

Ginger knows that practical choices guarantee a stable life, which is why she chose a career as an office manager. Her job provides a steady paycheck, but it also has her snoozing at her desk. She wishes she’d pursued her passion for interior decorating rather than business.

She’s also trying to forget Greg Shaffer—the gorgeous emergency room doctor she met at a dance club last month. Her dad was an emergency room doctor and the stress of the job turned him into a raging alcoholic, which didn’t exactly create happy childhood memories.

Ginger believes donating her decorating services to her friend’s charity auction is the perfect fix for both her problems. She’ll get a break from the daily grind, get her creative juices flowing, and stay so busy she’ll finally forget about Greg.

But then Greg ends up buying the condo right above her. Even worse, he deliberately wins the bid on her auction item. Greg seems determined to prove to Ginger that practicality has nothing on passion. And as Ginger brings beauty into Greg’s world, how can she possibly resist the beauty he brings to hers?
