In Wanted (FBI Heat #3) by Marissa Garner, Kat MacKenzie isn’t sure Wantedthat turning to her ex-fiancé is the best thing to do, but with her instincts screaming that someone is doing something wrong at her current workplace – a nuclear power plant in the process of being decommissioned – she needs help and Dillon O’Malley is the right man for the job and the only person she can trust. The only thing is – can Dillon forgive her for what she did by leaving him at the altar, so they can work together?

”What about all the stuff you’ve seen in Diablo Beach’s computer system? Isn’t that solid evidence?” she asked, sniffling.
”The first question would be how did I obtain it.”
She went still. “Oh.”
“Yeah. ‘Oh’. I want to stop these bastards, but I don’t want to go to prison for hacking into a nuclear power plant.”

Romantic suspense happens to be one of the genres I like best, and Ms. Garner has again captivated me – just as she did with the first two stories – with this third book of her FBI Heat series; a series I have found highly entertaining and one in which the books just keep getting better and better. This book encompasses a second chance romance, plenty of action and suspense and had me hooked from the prologue because of the bad guys and their plans for someone (that someone being Kat) because of what they believe she knows. No way can they have their plans ruined.

The dialogue was intense due to the dangers for Kat during the investigation into the power plant as well as the history between Kat and Dillon, which has left Dillon bitter, yet desperate for answers to questions that have haunted him in the years since she left him. Why did she abandon him at the altar when they were so much in love? What could possibly have made her make such a decision instead of talking to him?

Both characters had me enthralled, and definitely need to make the most of achieving their second chance at love. They have to overcome some big obstacles, especially the reason Kat left Dillon in the past, yet there was no doubt that things would work out between them, as they’re a couple meant to be. Kat is smart, strong and brave. I loved how she turned to Dillon for help, even though there was every chance that he’d be mad at her. However, at the same time, I could understand and sympathize with Kat’s reason for deserting Dillon, knowing how he felt about having kids. Also, I loved the relationship she had with those she deeply cares for. She loves them very much and would do anything to make certain they’re safe, even if it meant putting her own life at risk.

He stared at her in disbelief. “After what they’ve done, you have to ask? At this point, the SOBs are cutting their losses, getting rid of evidence, and wrapping up loose ends. You, me, Skye – we’re loose ends. Don’t you get it? The place could be booby-trapped.”

While Dillon, he’s smart, protective and I liked how determined he was to help Kat, even though it wasn’t easy for him to be around her. She was the love of his life and the fact that she left him still hurts. Also, I liked that he would do anything to keep Kat safe. Even if it meant doing something illegal; something that could ruin his career and land him in prison, if anyone found out what he was capable of doing when it came to computers.

Overall, this was a really good book where the sex scenes were hot and revealed how much these two still love each other. The way this story ended had me cheering for this couple. No way is Dillon going to let Kat get away again and he proves it with what he asks her. I would recommend Wanted by Marissa Garner, if you enjoy romantic suspense and second chance romances.

For San Diego’s elite FBI agents, risking their lives is standard procedure when it comes to capturing the city’s most dangerous criminals – but falling in love is the greatest risk of all.

Kat MacKenzie knows something is terribly wrong at the Diablo Beach Nuclear Power Plant, but she can’t figure out if it’s computer error, equipment malfunction, or human sabotage. Unfortunately, the only person she can trust with the problem is the man she left at the altar two years ago. If Dillon doesn’t already hate her, he surely will once he discovers why she abandoned him.

The last person he expects to call him is the woman who broke his heart. But FBI Special Agent Dillon O’Malley can’t ignore Kat’s plea for help-not when national security may be at stake. As enemies become clear and catastrophe threatens, can Kat and Dillon put the past behind them to save the day and secure their future?
