whenhefellWhen He Fell by Kate Hewitt is another amazingly touching, emotionally charged book that will make you ask yourself how your actions, or the perceptions of your actions affect those around you. How do they touch the lives of the innocent.

This is the book about two families. Two little boys, Josh and Ben, best of friends. One is shy, the other a little wild. The most unlikely of friends, but they click together. Then one day, an accident, secrets and lies change all that. When one boy is injured and the other hides a secret it is the families that need to get to the bottom of it.

This is a book about Maddie, mother of Ben and Joanna, mother of Josh. Maddie wants the family that Joanna has. She wants her husband, she wants her life. Even if it is all in Maddie’s head, this book will make you stop and think about how your actions, how your daydreams, affect others, even if they may seem harmless. It is the story of realizing what is truly important in life. It is story about letting go, opening up, being honest and giving and receiving forgiveness.

This book made me think, this book made me cry. At times this book gave me hope. The characters and the emotions, experiences that they go through are touching and sad, but it is a story about living, remembering and moving forward in the face of tragedy.

The powerfully gripping new book from USA Today bestselling author Kate Hewitt.
Josh and Ben are nine years old and best friends, until a single, careless act in the school playground destroys the lives of both families – and wrenches their small Manhattan school apart.

As both mothers Maddie and Joanna try to find out what really happened between the boys, they discover the truth is far more complicated and painful than either of them could have ever realised… with lasting repercussions for both families.

And when tragedy strikes again in the most unexpected of ways, the lives of these two women will be changed once more, and this time forever.

When He Fellexplores the issues of parental responsibility and guilt, and whether there are some acts that human nature just cannot forgive…

Thanks for the review, Jen. I’m still not sure about reading this book because other reviews say it doesn’t end happily and is very intense.

March, it is very intense and I guess the HEA is in the eye of the beholder. Yes the ending is sad, but it also implies hope, and forgivness and healing and trust.
