In Wilde For Her by Tonya Burrows, Cam Wilde has loved Eva for years…even if she doesn’t know it. First she was his partner when he was a homicide detective. Now that Cam is working for he and his brother’s security firm Wilde Security, he and Eva are no longer partners, but he has no intention of jeopardizing their friendship with a declaration of love. Little does he know that Eva has secretly always wanted Cam as more than a friend too.

WFHWhen Cam takes Eva as his date to his brother’s wedding, they lose their inhibitions and spend one wild, hot night together. But Eve knows what kind of future she wants, and she can’t picture Cam wanting the same thing. She sneaks out of the hotel room…intent on pretending that night of passion with Cam never happened. Cam is stunned when he wakes up alone. He can’t forget, nor does he want to. He values their friendship, but now he wants more. Eva can’t forget either, but Eva had a difficult childhood and is determined not to be like her mother. She wants safe and predictable, something Cam definitely is not!

Cam won’t give up very easily though…and soon Eva and Cam have moved beyond just friendship. But where can it lead if anywhere? Both of them are hiding their true feelings. If they open up with each other is there any chance of a future together? Can Eva adjust her dream to include Cam?

When danger and death threaten Cam, and Eva feels betrayed will it be over before it ever started?

Tonya gives us some a very strong hero and heroine in Wilde for Her. Both Eva and Cam have issues from their childhood they are still struggling with as adults, that are affecting the relationships they have as adults. I really liked both of these people! Eva really made me feel for the little girl she was, and hope that the woman she’d become could move past these issues, or at least not allow them to have such a bearing on how she lives her life now. She still allows the past to dictate the present, but I liked that she recognized this and was trying her best to deal with this. Cam was not so fast to recognize his own problems…but I still really, really liked him! He knew what he wanted and he was going after it. He is very protective of everyone he cares about, even when being so protective might put him at risk.

Of course the rest of the Wilde brothers make up the secondary characters, as well as Eva’s sister and her mother. The family relationships were an necessary part of Wilde for Her and add a lot of depth to the story and the characters. I really want more of those Wilde brothers now!

I don’t read a lot of friends to lovers novels, but Tonya really pulled me into Wilde for Her and I loved it! Wilde for Her is an intense, suspenseful read that will have you not wanting to put the book down. Tonya gives us an ideal combination of mystery and romance that flows easily across the pages. This is the second book in the series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend the first book too though (Wilde Nights in Paradise)…they are both fantastic!

I’d recommend Wilde for Her to any romance reader looking for a lot of suspense and some great sizzle.

Former homicide detective Camden Wilde has been in love with his ex-partner, Eva Cardoso, for longer than he cares to admit. Not that it matters. She’s shoved him into the friend zone, and after living through the hell of his parents’ violent deaths, Cam’s unable to give her the idyllic life she secretly desires.

Eva’s never met a person who hasn’t let her down. Cam may be sex personified, but he’s the only man she can trust, and there’s no way she’ll risk their friendship on the off-chance they could be more. Especially not after the one scintillating night she’s trying—and failing—to forget.

When a murder-for-hire contract on his head lands Eva on his doorstep, Cam knows it’s time to put up or shut up. He’s done biding his time, and he’ll be damned if he lets the delectable detective ignore what’s between them, no matter the cost.
