Wish-Upon-a-WeddingWish Upon a Wedding by LuAnn McLane: Sophia has been attracted to local handyman Avery since arriving in town, but she didn’t want to get involved when she had no plans to stay. She’s come to truly love Cricket Creek and being so close to her family again, so she is intrigued when a business opportunity falls in her lap. Sophia will always look, and look a few more times, before she leaps, and staying would change everything.

Avery is so over his ex-fiancée. While he’s kept the true reason behind their split quiet, he just wishes that his sister would stop trying to get him back with his ex. He’s come to treasure his friendship with Sophia. She’s the opposite of his ex in just about every way; she’s selfless, generous, caring, and has a great sense of humor.

“I…” She swallowed hard and inhaled a deep breath, trying to stop her world from spinning. “I think…so. I’m a bit light-headed. Just let me lean back against you for a minute.” Or ten. All day might be nice, too.
“Sure, just take it easy.” His arms remained around her. “Can I get you anything? Water?”
“My dignity would be lovely.”

With his sister’s wedding coming up, Avery and Sophia decide that they will pretend to date. Avery can’t really avoid his ex as she is slated to be the maid of honor and he’s the best man. The biggest complication is that both want the relationship to be real, but are wary of taking that chance.

The more time they spend together, the harder it is to fight their feelings. They have great chemistry and just fit as a couple. They also see another couple close to them finally acting on their attraction after decades of friendship as an example of making the most of life.

Carrie Ann reached for a bottle of champagne and handed it to her. “Take this with you and drink as needed.”
Sophia gave her a small grin. “Does it say that on the bottle?”
“No, it’s my personal suggestion. This is my third glass and it’s just what the doctor ordered.”

Wish Upon a Wedding is a heartfelt, friends to lovers romance. LuAnn McLane draws you in and has you pulling for both couples. Ms. McLane provides a good balance of humor and heat as the plot unfolds. Wish Upon a Wedding can be read as a standalone in the series. Fans of Jill Shalvis and Kristan Higgins will enjoy Wish Upon a Wedding.
