Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Cindy and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Christmas in Good Hope!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Christmas in Good HopeAmaryllis “Ami” Bloom’s cheerful smile greets everyone in Good Hope, Wisconsin. But her merry facade hides a dark secret she won’t ever forget. Still, she throws herself into celebrating Christmas—and convinces her handsome, and stubborn, new neighbor to join her.

Beckett Cross, however, is determined not to celebrate the holidays. He moved to Good Hope to leave behind reminders of how he’d had it all…and lost everything. But it’s hard to resist the adorable Ami, the designated keeper of the small town’s holiday traditions, when she asks for help with the Twelve Nights celebration. And Ami has a hard time resisting Beck’s soft Southern drawl and gentle eyes. Will a Christmas miracle give them a second chance at love and the hope to heal both of their hearts for good?

Please share the opening lines of this book:

It may have been only the first of December but historic Hill House, in the small village of Good Hope, Wisconsin, was already gussied up for Christmas. In spite of the festive evergreen wreaths with red ribbons at each window and pinecone garlands around the white porch rail, the home reminded Amaryllis Bloom of an aging film star trying to conceal wrinkles beneath a thick coat of grease paint.

If anyone understood a desperate need to hide flaws beneath a polished veneer, it was Ami.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • I went on a road trip with a friend to scout out a location for this book and fell in love with Door County.
  • Good Hope is modeled after Fish Creek, to me the prettiest of all the townships in Door County
  • I became acquainted with a General Store, like the one Eliza—Ami’s nemesis—runs, when I came into contact with a poison weed while doing research. 🙂

Using just 5 words, how would you describe hero and heroine’s love affair?

Life-altering, Caring, Fated, Magical, Tender

What first attracts your hero to the heroine and vice versa?

Beck was attracted to Ami because her goodness is something that shines through.

Ami was attracted to Beck because there’s nothing more intriguing than a handsome stranger with a secret.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would be absolutely crucial to include?

The scene where Eliza confronts Ami about her past in front of everyone.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned for 2015?

After recently completing Book 2 (Summer in Good Hope) I moved into plotting the third book in this series (Marigold’s story).

2016 releases: Scheduled so far — The Doctor’s Valentine Dare (February) and Summer in Good Hope (June)

Meet the Author:

Cindy KirkCindy Kirk started writing after taking a class at a local community college. But her interest in the written word began years earlier when she was in her teens. At sixteen, she wrote in her diary: “I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t be a writer.” When she returned to her first love—writing—she jumped feet first into book-length fiction. She loves reading and writing romance because she believes in the power of love and in happily ever after. An incurable romantic and an eternal optimist, Kirk loves seeing her characters grow and learn from their mistakes and, in the process, achieve a happy ending through the power of love. She and her high-school-sweetheart husband live in Nebraska with their two dogs.

This looks like a wonderful book. All of Cindy’s books are an automatic buy for me, so I am looking forward to reading this one. I love the storyline, two souls each hiding something, but can find love regardless of their pass. Plus it’s a Christmas book, which I love.

Sounds likes a sweet holiday story. There seems to always be a person who can’t stand to see a person happy and making everyone else feel good. Those people try to make themselves more important by tearing down the good person and hurting/humiliating them in front of others. Sounds like Eliza is that type of person.

I’m looking forward to visiting Good Hope. I’ve been to Door County many times. I too love the quaintness of Fish Creek. The White Gull Inn’s fish boil is fabulous. Ephraim is my favorite with it’s harbor park and view! Wilson’s ice cream store delicious. I can’t wait to read Eliza and Beckett’s story and find out what secrets they both hold tight to their hearts.
