Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Brenda Jackson to HJ!
Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Brenda and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Forged in Desire!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Two people of different backgrounds are thrown together in a weave of terror while they battled life and death. One as the protector and the other as the prey. In the end the both become casualties to something neither of them suspected happening. A chance at never-ending love.

Please share the opening lines of this book:

Connelly was certain the man’s words echoed sentiment they all felt. The last thing she had expected when reporting for jury duty was to be sequestered during the entire trial…especially with twelve strangers, more than a few of whom had taken the art of bitching to a whole new level.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • I talked to my character throughout this book.
  • While writing this book I wrote a lot of the scenes on the beach.
  • I took a gun class before writing this book.

Please tell us a little about the characters in your book. As you wrote your protagonist was there anything about them that surprised you?

I loved writing Striker’s story because he was first introduced in one if my earlier books, the second book in the Grangers Series, A Man’s Promise. I couldn’t wait to dive into his story to uncover all his layers and complexities. What surprised me was how much of a protector he was, even when he thought he wasn’t.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?

The scene where Striker and Margo see each other for first time.

What do you want people to take away from reading this book?

When people make mistakes in life, there can be second chances.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned for 2017?

Currently working on Book 3 in the Protectors series, Locked in Temptation, It features Striker’s friend, Stonewall Courson. Book 2 of the series, Seized by Seduction, will be out in April. And for my Westmoreland fans, a new Westmoreland novel will be out in the fall of 2017.

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Forged in Desire:

Striker followed her as far as the living room and stood by the sofa. From his position he could see her sit down at her workroom computer. It was only then that he crossed to the fireplace and stared at the flames. What the hell had happened in her kitchen? The desire he’d felt for her had shocked him to the core. And when he’d kissed her, he hadn’t wanted to stop. The kiss had packed a wallop but had been way too short.
When had a woman—a woman he was protecting—made him lose control? What was there about her that whenever he touched her, something inside of him would snap, make him even more aware of her as a woman? A woman he wanted.

Book Info:

Strong enough to protect her. Bold enough to love her.

When good girl Margo Connelly becomes Lamar “Striker” Jennings’s latest assignment, she knows she’s in trouble. And not just because he’s been hired to protect her from an underworld criminal. The reformed bad boy’s appeal is breaching all her defenses, and as the threats against her increase, Margo isn’t sure which is more dangerous: the gangster targeting her, or the far too alluring protector tempting her to let loose.

Though Striker’s now living on the right side of the law, he’s convinced his troubled past keeps Margo out of his league. But physical chemistry explodes into full-blown passion when they go on the run together. Surrendering to desire could be a deadly distraction—or finally prove that he’s the only man qualified to keep her safe, and win her love.

I like edge of your seat with lots of unforeseen twists and turns as primary in the story.

I love just enough that it enhances the story but doesn’t takeover/drown out the romance. I want to be engaged in a love story not a mystery/suspense story with a little bit of romance thrown in. I’ll buy a mystery for a full blown dose. 🙂

I enjoy reading romance suspense stories. And I’m interested in reading this book, since I usually enjoy Brenda Jackson’s books!

I love a good mystery and suspense book, even if it isn’t a romance. They were what I grew up reading and are still favorites. Romance just adds another dimension to it all. I like more than just relationship building in a story. Give me history, suspense, and a plot to sink my teeth into.

I like there to be a balance. I dislike when the suspense/mystery supersedes any romantic aspect to the point where it cannot be considered a romance novel, but I haaaaaate when the romance is so overbearing, the suspense/mystery is stupidly easy to solve and anti-climactic – or the characters are more worried about getting it on than staying alive.
