Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Katee Robert to HJ!
Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Katee and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Theirs Ever After!

Thank you so much for having me!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

This book is a story of what happens AFTER the happily-ever-after moment. We’ve got a prince who is now a king, and two commoners who are now Royal Consorts. Theo, Galen, and Meg have to navigate their new reality–and relationship–as danger closes in.

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

“The things we do for love, huh?” Meg gave a sad smile. “This happily ever after is more complicated than I would have guessed.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • – This book is the first time I’ve ever written a direct sequel with the same couple (or triad, in this case).
  • – The side character, Noemi, was supposed to be a terrible person, but she stole every scene she was in and refused to cooperate, and now she’s got her own spin-off novella!
  • – I flip-flopped between using the title Theirs Ever After or Happily Ever Theirs before landing on the former as the official title.

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

This book starts with the triad already in a relationship, but the thing that attracts them to each other is also the things that are slowly driving them apart. They love Theo’s dominant attitude and arrogance, but it means he makes choices without consulting them. They love Galen’s protectiveness, but that’s also something that is being forcibly stifled by his new position. They love Meg’s independence, but that might by the very thing that breaks the relationship for good.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?

It would be one of the quiet moments with the three of them before things all start to fall apart…

Galen waited for them on the bed, clothed in only his skin. Her heart skipped a beat. As much as Theo’s beauty seduced her, Galen’s raw sex appeal knocked her right in the stomach. His dusky skin was crisscrossed with lighter scars, a testament to the abuse his father had leveled at him as a child. His dark hair had grown longer, losing the military-like cut. She liked it. There was a lot to like about Galen.
He watched Theo carry her toward him with a predatory look that sent a bolt of desire through her. Only good things came from Galen getting that expression on his face.
Theo set her on the bed just out of reach and pressed a hand to her shoulder. “Don’t move.” He was only gone a moment, disappearing back into the bathroom and reappearing with a hairbrush. He took up a position against the headboard and urged her to sit between his legs with her back to him.
Theo began carefully combing her wet hair.
Meg closed her eyes and let the gentle tug of the brush soothe her. The fluffy towel and Theo’s proximity kept her cozy, but Galen’s attention pricked along her skin, a promise of things to come.

Readers should read this book….

If they dig MMF ménages where everyone has an equal part in the relationship–and if they are into royal romances.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I’m currently working on a brand new indie series that’s sort of a contemporary Fantasy Island revolving around a revenge plot decades in the making.

Next up, I have a novella connected to this series that’s available for free from the Read Me Romance podcast (starting December 10th). And then, in February, I have the next book in The Kings series, The Fearless King. There will also be two more Make Me books, releasing in May and July, respectively.

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Theirs Ever After:

“Do you want to leave?”
Meg shot up, nearly clipping his chin with the top of her head. “Don’t you dare.”
“Don’t I dare, what?”
She sat back and raised a shaking finger to wave it in his face. “Don’t you dare try to send me away. We went over this last time. I’m not going anywhere, and damn you to hell for even thinking of suggesting it.” She glared, the effect only stronger by the impressive bruise coloring the side of her face. “Do you love me, Theo?”
If he was smart, he’d lie to her. Tell her that yes, he cared about her, but it was best if she went back to New York, back to her safe life and her equally safe plan for the future. The worst she had to deal with back there was drunk bar patrons, and Meg had already proved herself more than capable. She wouldn’t be in active danger in New York.
But Theo had promised her honesty. “Yes, I love you.”
“Then let’s not play the guilt game. This isn’t your fault, and trying to send me away is just going to result in a fight that you won’t win.”
“Meg—”
The door opened and heavy footsteps signaled Galen’s arrival. The fact that they heard him at all was a testament to how worried he was. Normally, he was more ghost than man.
Galen stopped in the doorway, visibly centering himself. “She was pushed.” He gave Meg a long look that communicated just how pissed he was that she’d bothered to try to lie about it, and then turned his attention to Theo. “Whoever it was knew where the cameras were. They wore a black sweatshirt and pants. I can’t even narrow down gender—a woman or a small man.”
The palace alone staffed well over a hundred people, all of who moved through the space regularly and would know where the cameras were. Add in the nobles and their various staff and that number more than doubled. It could be anyone.
Meg gave a soft laugh. “Your aunt did warn me that people here would want to kill me.”
“That’s not funny.”
“Never said it was.”
They looked at each other, the truth an almost physical presence in the room with them. Someone had tried to kill Meg. They failed, but there was no reason to think that would deter them.
Galen crossed his arms over his chest. “I’m going to talk to Isaac. We’re putting security on you.”
“You have security on me.”
“Only when you’re outside the palace. Now, they’re on you all the time.”
Meg thinned her lips like she wanted to argue, but whatever she saw on their faces changed her mind. “Fine.”
Galen stalked closer to the bed. “Did they give her something?”
Meg started to cross her arms over her chest, winced, and let herself sink back into the pillows. “For the millionth time, I am sitting right here and talking about me like I’m a woman-shaped doll doesn’t fly. No, the doctor didn’t give me anything.”
Theo grabbed the pain meds and gave them a shake. “On the contrary.”
“Shut up, you tattletale,” she hissed.
Galen kicked off his shoes. “Look, baby, I know the pain pills make you nauseous, but what’s the alternative?” He climbed onto the bed to sit on the other side of her and lifted her hair away from her face. “Fuck. You look like shit.”
“Thanks, baby. You really know how to turn a girl’s head with that kind of talk.”
The acidity in her tone rolled off Galen just like it always seemed to. They bickered as often as they fucked, and it bonded them in a way that had nothing to do with Theo. Normally, evidence of that love made him happy, but today it felt like he was standing on the outside of a window and looking in.
Galen shifted to cup Meg’s jaw and tilted her head to the side. “We’ll order some soup—something you don’t have to chew—and crackers. If you put something substantial in your stomach before you take the meds, they won’t be as bad.” He shook his head when she started to protest. “You’re not going to be able to sleep without them. Trust me.”
She sighed. “I’m not going to win this argument, am I?”
“Is it really worth if it you spend an entire night laying here, miserable and cursing your stupid-ass pride?”
Another sigh, this one flirting with being downright dramatic. “No?”
“Good answer.”

Book Info:

Sometimes happily ever after isn’t all it’s cracked up to be…

Theo Fitzcharles thought he’d put the worst behind him when he became King of Thalania and named his two lovers, Meg Sanders and Galen Mikos, as his Consorts. Unfortunately, the realities of running a country have worn on all of them, individually and as a triad. Theo has every intention of making things right, but first he has to deal with an old enemy who’s closer than anyone could have dreamed.

Meg Sanders never wanted to be a princess. Now that she’s one of two Consorts to the King of Thalania, she knows why—it’s work. Every time she turns around, she’s misstepping and struggling not to screw up the careful political maneuvering required for her new position. But her struggles with the new position are the least of her worries she’s attacked in the palace.

Theo, Galen, and Meg must race to identify her attacker and neutralize them before they can make another attempt to hurt her. There’s plenty of people who want Meg out of the palace—and at least one isn’t picky about whether she’s breathing or not when she goes.

Meet the Author:

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her 2015 title, The Marriage Contract, was a RITA finalist, and RT Book Reviews named it ‘a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension.” When not writing sexy contemporary and romantic suspense, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her children, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

I very rarely read menage, so I can’t say a title on top of my head. There is a scene in Ayano Yamane’s Finder: Target in Sight bonus scene that I love though; it involved Takaba, Asami, and Fei Long in a hot spring. 😉

  2. Sonia

The last I read, even though it was brief but well enjoyed was Fever by Maya Bank:)

  3. Marie C

I think the last one was actually Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters. I’m not sure if that counts as ménage, exactly, but it’s the only one that comes to mind.

  4. clickclickmycat

The Billionaire Bad Boys Club by Emma Holly. That’s the only one I can remember.

  5. John Smith

“What’s the last ménage you read and loved?” I’m not sure I’ve read such a book.

  6. laurieg72

Forbidden Pleasures by Beatrice Small features multiple menage senarios

  7. Victoria

Oh man, i’ve read so many great ones but the last one was Flesh by Kylie Scott <3

  8. Glenda M

I can’t think of one. Most of the one’s I’ve seen don’t have much of a real story line so I don’t bother with them

  9. Nina T

It’s not really my cup of tea, but from time to time I do read it. Just couple days ago I finished Spurred by Vanessa Vale, it was okay 🙂

  10. Teresa Williams

Deep in the heart of Texas series Katie Lane and the 50 shade series as well.

  11. Marcy Meyer

The Princess, the Prick & the Priest by Ella Frank. So, so good. M/M/M
