Jake O’Hare, father of Kate O’Hare from Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg’s Fox & O’Hare series. As an ex special forces single dad, he taught his daughters some interesting skills, including bomb making with kitchen ingredients and how to kill someone with your lunch. As Kate and Nicolas, travel around the world, taking down the worst bad guys there are, Jake has his little girl’s back the way a father should, with hand grenades, bowie knives, and enough snappy dialogue to keep you laughing.

  2. Nicole Potter

Hm…I’ll go with William from the Lord’s of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter! He hasn’t had his own book -yet-, but has tagged along in several of the Lords’ own books! He’s sassy, swaggy, and all around BAMF! Plus the semi – crush he’s harboring on Gilly is adorable! 🙂

  3. doveknoll

I love Zeb in Sandra Hill’s A Deadly Angels Book series. I know he is one of the bad guys (sorta) but I’m hoping he gets his on story. I love this series. Of course The Fox and O’Hare series mentioned above sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out. Lol. Thanks for the chance to win. The prize sounds amazing as usual.

  4. kec200

Lula from Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books. She is such a hoot and it’s great fun to imagine her stuffed into the wild clothes that are described. Grandma Mazur is a close second because she is who I want to be when I get old!

  5. Kate Sparks

I want to be Grandma Mazur when I get older!! No filter!! Stephanie Plum writes such great stuff!!!

  6. mrsmac19

Ben from Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series has been a very interesting secondary character. I can’t wait to read his story this spring!

  7. Mary M.

Chase, the founder of the Fallen Angel in Sarah MacLean’s Rule of Scoundrels series. He controls from the shadows with strength and his own version of honor. His secrets were recently revealed in Never Judge A Lady By Her Cover, the fourth book in the series, and quite the reveal it was!

  8. nicholskathy

I couldn’t choose since there have been so many wonderful books out this year.

  9. laurieg72

Sam the moose in Marie Force’s Green Mountain series. Sam was the reason Will and Cameron met and ended up falling in love. She crashed into the moose on her way into town and Will rescued her.

  10. Maureen

The Hurley Boys from The Best Kind of Trouble are great secondary characters.

  11. belindaegreen

You asked: Who tops your 2014 list for Favorite Secondary Character? And Why? ( Please include name of the book )

I just finished reading Milly Taiden’s Paranormal Dating Agency series. There are 4 books in the series so far. Hopefully there’ll be more. Mrs. Gerri Wilder is the so called “owner & CEO” of the agency. She is a hoot! The lady cracks me up! She appears to be a bit scatter-brained but she’s far from it. She plays the role to perfection! Her character though secondary is the lynch pen of the series. I enjoyed the series and recommend it highly! 🙂

    Thanks for the opportunity.

    Belinda

  12. janinecatmom

This is a hard question for me because I have read so many books with great secondary characters.

  13. conniefischer

Jessica Brooks’s old high school friend, Brandon in “Learning to Live” by Jerrica Knight-Catania. This book is about the pain a young woman went through as a result of 9/11. It is a must read. Keep those tissues handy but look for humor and happiness to prevail.

  14. Xoun J. Phetchamp

I read a lot of old favorites this year. Didn’t really get a chance to catch new books. But a favorite secondary character for me would be Lady Esme from the, House of Trent serial. She been a wallflower in the series but I hope she gets her own novel soon. She’s sweet, caring and very clever.

  15. Lori Meehan

Will Stevens from “A Chance at Love Again” by Callie Hutton. I love a good romance where one of the main characters have a precocious child that just by their open and loving nature help bring the hero and heroine together. I feel in love with Will just as much as I did with Rachel and Rusty.

  16. Gail S

Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter. I want to know more about her best friend, Molly (a witch) and her husband , Evan. I also want to know more about Bruiser. Tall, handsome & can dance. He has a history that’s worth exploring.

  17. Texas Book Lover

I finally read The Rock Chicks series and the whole gang as secondary characters were favorites of mine This year! They were such an amazing group of friends and had each others backs no matter what and made me laugh more times that I could count!

  18. christytea

Probably all of the secondary characters in the Charley Davidson series; they’re all characters I wouldn’t mind hanging out with in real life!

  19. Kim R

I have read a lot of books with great secondary characters. What makes them great is that they are normally excellent support for the main character with enough wit and life to deserve their own book. I’m at a loss to pick a favorite.

  20. Pennie M

I’ve been slowly reading the Rock Chick series by Kristin Ashley and since they can all be considered secondary characters in each others books I would have to say all the Rock Chicks. Or Tex, yeah, Tex. LOVE Tex! The things that come out of that man’s mouth have me laughing out loud.

  21. Joan V.

Grannie June from The Mistletoe Effect by Melissa Cutler. She loved her smartphone and was always taking pictures to post on Facebook. She was hilarious.

  22. Cheryl H

Wow…I honestly have NO idea!! Most of the books I read end up being part of series, so the secondaries get their own stories eventually. But I’ll say Abby’s 4 children in Worth The Fall…they all wrapped themselves around Matt’s heart without even trying! Extra points go to Annie for being a tough sell <3

  23. EvelynS

Agh. Too many to choose from! A lot of great characters mentioned by other commenters!!

  24. amydawn2537

I would say Bricker in Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampire Series. He’s been in the books since the beginning and hasn’t had his own yet so I’d like to see what his mate is like.

  25. Inga

Vaughan and Kelly from Lauren Dane’s Broken Open and I’m looking forward to their book.

  26. Colleen C.

I recently found this new author… Ruby Lionsdrake… I love her series Mandrake Company… all of the characters are entertaining… enjoyed the first 3 books… hope she writes more for the Sci-fi romance genre!

  27. cindy nichols

I like Justin Bricker from the Argeneau Series. He is a dork and I cant wait for him to find his soulmate. That would get extremely interesting considering he always intrudes on everyone elses relationships.

  28. BethRe

I have read many great books this year in all different genres it would be too hard to pick just one favorite secondary character

  29. ndluebke

After 94+ books this year, some of the characters blend into each other. There have been so many, including a physic dog. I can’t give a single name right now

  30. Trudy Dowling

Dax from Incite by Heather Leigh. Adam, the main character, would not have survived, let alone thrived, without his best mate.

  31. Kim Perry

I love Sway in the Corps Security Series by Harper Sloan! I love how he is determined to embrace life and spread joy…especially his gold glitter!!

  32. BookLady

The Pirate Jean Lafitte from the Sentinels of New Orleans series by Suzanne Johnson is a fascinating secondary character.

  33. Kai W.

I love Peabody from In Death series. She has character and add character to Eve Dallas.

  34. Glenda S. Hefty

Way too many to think of any offhand. But as mentioned above, both Peabody from the In Death books by JD Robb and Lulu in Janet Evanovich’s books would both rank right up there.

  35. angela smith

i will go with peabody from the In Death series.because she’s always there for eve dallas

  36. Christina Riggs

I can’t think of one offhand. But I usually get a kick out of funny cousins/relatives.

  37. Amy Rickman

Sway from the Corps Security series by Harper Sloan, he was just so fun and brought a smile to my face in almost every scene he was in.

  38. Terri C

Gracie Maddox from Half Moon Harbor by Donna Kauffman. I loved her character because she was just the right mix of saucy and sweet. Best read all year for me.

  39. nikkiphilton

Shambles, the hippie-baker, in Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain series.

  40. erinf1

I’m gonna go with Peabody and McNab from the In Death series by JD Robb 🙂

  41. taswmom

I, also, loved Will Stevens from Callie Hutton’s A Second Chance at Love, but really fell in love with Rosemary Wilson’s children, Chandler, Abby and Jace from Daniel’s Desire, by Callie Hutton.
