Forever and a Duke by Grace Burrowes is the third book in the Rogues to Riches. Grace Burrowes’s books are always a pleasure to read and this book was another example of her wonderful writing. She has a way of developing her characters so a reader can’t help but fall in love with them. Then those loveable characters show up in another of her books, letting you see a peek of them again.

I love how Grace Burrowes books include previous characters that are always willing to help and lend support to the current hero and heroine. Keeping all the characters straight can be hard, but the author provides wonderful family trees on her website to help. As always, the book was well written, and the story flowed smoothly.

Eleanora Hatfield knows a scam when she sees one. Having a family of schemers, Eleanora can catch a scheme before it happens. She is a wonder with numbers and keeps the staff at the Wentworth and Penrose bank honest. She is independent, observant, sensible, and competent. She has worked hard to distinguish herself from her family’s past. She wants nothing to do with the peerage, but she agrees to help the Duke of Elsmore with his accounts.

Wrexham “Rex,” the Duke of Elsmore, owned the Dorset and Becker Savings and Trust. He has a large family that depends on him and his three sisters are of marriageable age and he must find a wife eventually. When he investigates the family’s finances, he finds he has problems. Problems that could cause a disaster for the family and scandal. He needed Eleanora’s help in finding the person who is responsible for the missing funds.

Rex and Eleanora were the perfect match. Their relationship built up slowly from respect and friendship into love. Rex was strong enough to admit his weakness in managing his finances and open to a female auditor helping him solve them. He showed great respect to the women in his family and that extended to Eleanora. Eleanora was suspicious and pessimistic by nature, and trust came hard to her. She slowly allowed Rex into her heart but was determined that her family’s past would cause a scandal if she married him.

This book is part of a series, but it was great as a stand-alone. I haven’t read the previous books, but they seem just as intriguing as this book. This was another wonderful book by Grace Burrowes and definitely worth reading.

Wrexham, Duke of Elsmore, is overrun by family obligations. With three sisters to escort about Town, a legion of cousins to look after, and aunties who insist he dance with every eligible young woman, he barely has time to manage his dukedom. When he finally carves out a moment to evaluate his family’s finances, he learns that he―and his sisters―are on the verge of social catastrophe.

Eleanora Hatfield has an uncanny knack for numbers, but she knows from experience that dealing with the peerage can only lead to problems. Though she wants nothing to do with any titled gentleman, she reluctantly agrees to help when Rex seeks aid from her employer. What starts out as an unwanted assignment soon leads to forbidden kisses and impossible longings. But with scandal haunting Ellie’s past and looming in Rex’s future, how can true love lead to anything but heartbreak?
