No Time Like Mardi Gras by Kimberly LangStarting over didn’t sound easy, but starting over in New Orleans at Mardi Gras seemed like the best way to handle things for Jamie Vincent. It’d be like her very own welcoming party. So what if she and her roommate have nothing in common? Maybe at some point, the guy in that band would stop playing and they could join the festivities outside the bar in which they were currently languishing.

NTLMGHow long was Teddy going to play the ‘You Owe Me’ card? The band playing at the Lucky Gator was abysmal, and relief bartending wasn’t exactly his gig anymore. At least it was the morning shift on Fat Tuesday – well before the place got crazy. When Teddy got there to let Colin off the hook, he alerted his friend to a table across the bar. One of the girls was definitely there to see the band, but the other wasn’t. She was disconnected – checking her phone, nursing a beer, completely disinterested. When Teddy suggested Colin go over to talk to her, he reluctantly decided he would.

After determining that she had plans to explore the city, but her ‘friend’ had other ideas, Colin offered to show her around. When he Jamie took in a parade, and later – the debauchery of Bourbon Street at night – the day turned into an incredibly hot session of lovemaking in the office back at the Lucky Gator. But they go back out into the crowd – and finally get separated. He has nothing but her first name and her watch, and a message on the Lucky Gator’s answering machine saying she made it home okay.

Not many people knew that Colin was the male half behind “The Ex Factor”, His ex-girlfriend’s blog. After Callie meets with him about having to get a guest blogger, she sees the watch and manages to wrestle out of him the story of Jamie and what was probably the best day of his life. Before he knows what she’s done, she’s published his “Cinderella” tale in order to track down this mysterious Jamie person. While she used Jamie’s real name, she kept him anonymous.

Callie has no idea that she’s brought new trouble to Jamie’s front door. She moved halfway across the country to get out of the spotlight, and now she’s back in. Going for job interviews – she’s being asked if she’s the Jamie from what is apparently an incredibly popular blog site. It’s hindering her already low chances of getting work in a new city – so she has to track down the guy she’d been determined to stay away from. Not that she didn’t want to see him again, she just didn’t need the complication so soon after the mess she left behind.

But seeing Colin again, and making friends with Callie – that definitely complicated things. Jamie and Colin sparked like a house on fire. They just couldn’t stay away from each other. Jamie desperately needed to make it on her own – could Colin give her the space to do that? Did Jamie want him to? And what about the zombies? And the Flamethrowers? Well, read it and find out.

As y’all know, I LOVE the KISS titles. They seem to be just the right blend of hot and sweet. This title was the epitome of that blend. Even before their first liaison, there was a scene that had me fanning myself. Hot, hot, hot. Jamie’s backstory was so complicated – but the author didn’t dwell on it. I was really happy about that. The book concentrated on the present and future – and that’s where we needed to be. Just amazing. Can’t recommend this enough.
