Hi Terry and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Destiny of the Wolf!

The 10th Anniversary Release of Destiny of the Wolf—Back to the Silver Town Wolves!

Each of the first five books: Heart of the Wolf, Destiny of the Wolf, To Tempt the Wolf, Legend of the White Wolf, and Seduced by the Wolf, are all about separate wolf packs in different parts of the country.

Some of the time, they are set in fictional settings. Now, when I wrote Heart of the Wolf, I didn’t know if I’d sell another wolf story. And the same thing for Destiny of the Wolf, so I kept writing the stories as if they were apart from the others. Which makes sense. The wolves don’t advertise that they exist. So unless a lupus garou runs into another’s territory, they don’t know about each other. By necessity, things change, but in the beginning, they were fairly isolated.

Destiny of the Wolf was set in the fictional town of Silver Town, based on Telluride, Colorado where I’ve skied. I loved the old western silver town there, and envisioned my wolves living there. But the problem with using a real town is you have to be fairly accurate about describing the place, and I wanted more freedom to create my very own wolf town.

Silver Town is unique because it was actually established as a wolf-run town from the beginning. The wolves work together and play together. They’re loyal and protective. In some cases, the rogue wolves come from outside the pack to cause trouble, but in the first two wolf books, I have where someone within the pack is the rogue wolf.

In Heart of the Wolf, they had a bad pack leader that our hero had to eliminate to make things right with the pack. With Destiny of the Wolf, they had a good pack leader, who is grieving over the loss of his mate. When a woman shows up in town looking like Darien Silver’s dead mate, his world is once again turned upside down. Lelandi Wildhaven isn’t leaving town until she learns just who had murdered her sister. The problem is, now she’s on the murderer’s radar and Darien believes his mate committed suicide.

I had fun creating the pack dynamics, showing the leader in charge, fighting his interest in his dead mate’s sister and trying to find the wolf who is attempting to murder her. I often use real wolf stories or other real stories in my novels to add more realism.

In a real wolf story, a female wolf’s sister was the co-pack leader. Her sister hated her, but the one that wasn’t the leader ran faster than any of the wolves in the pack. She brought down prey more often than any other wolves in the pack. But it was as if the female pack leader knew her sister was leader quality, and several times she chased her off, trying to force her sister out of the pack.

A wolf on her own can be in trouble. She stayed around the fringes. Rejoined the pack whenever she could. Continued to hunt for the pack. And finally, when her sister was killed, the alpha male took the swift-footed sister as his mate. So it had a Happily-Ever-After and I wanted to show that in this story. It’s not the same as the sisters in Silver Town. The Wildhaven sisters loved each other, but the one did betray the other. So there was betrayal on both Lelandi’s side and within the ranks of the Silver Town pack.

Family is so important to me, and loyalty also, like it is with wolf packs. So I showed that with Silver Town. Family dynamics, pack dynamics, living as wolves in their own town unlike where they live elsewhere. The fun of the stories is that each is a standalone. Many of my readers say how much they want to live in Silver Town, and I say, “Go for it! The right wolf is always on the look out for the right mate!”

What some readers had to say about Destiny of the Wolf, the first book in the Silver Town series that they’d read:

“I loved it, because it had it all, it was a book of love, greed, lust, dream sex, and betrayal, mystery, murder and it had the best HEA. And I was hooked on Silver Town and your book and I wanted more.” Donna Fournier

“I have the original copy of Destiny of the Wolf with Darien and Lelandi. Love the humor and the chemistry between these two.” Terri Edeen

“I love it. I’ve read it 3 times and the rest of the books in the series too.” Nancy Hoch

“I’ve read all of the wolf shifter books (and the jaguar and cougar, too). The characters are engaging and the stories pull you in from page one. I feel like I’m visiting friends whenever I pick up a Terry Spear book and I can’t wait for the next!” Stefanie Kazimer

“I love all Terry Spear’s books!!” Sherille Elliot

“I have all of them and love them!” Lola Faber

This Red Wolf needs answers, and she won’t let anyone stand in her way…
Fleeing from her red werewolf pack, Lelandi Wildhaven arrives in Silver Town to find out what happened to her sister. But some of the Silver Wolves don’t believe her or her motives—instead insisting she’s there to make a bid for the gray alpha leader’s heart—and they’ll do whatever it takes to protect their home.

Pack leader Darien Silver can’t help feeling the pain of the past, especially when Lelandi shows up, like a ghost from his memories. When someone tries to silence her, he must accept that things aren’t all they seem under his watch—and that this enchanting red wolf might have a place here after all…
