A Sicilian Engagement by Rachel Lyndhurst: I thoroughly enjoyed this story about Lora Pryce-Howard and Lorenzo Ferrante. Lora is a former nanny and personal assistant, who is now a busy holistic therapist. Lorenzo is a Sicilian billionaire whose business acumen has secured his success and financial future. After years of hard work, Lorenzo is on the verge leaving the horrors of his time in engagementSicily behind and starting a new life someplace else. All he has to do is get a final contract completed with an old-fashioned, very wealthy Russian, who only does business with those that believe in marriage and family. A fake fiancee for a month or so will seal the deal, and Lora is perfectly qualified for the position.

Geoffrey, Lora ‘s scumbag and idiot of a brother, is up to his ears in debt and the people he owes money to have no problem killing him if he doesn’t pay up. Thus, he promises Lora to Lorenzo in exchange for a clean slate. Lora is trapped into a no win situation. As much as she despises her brother for making this arrangement, she does not want to see him killed. She also has an ailing mother to take care of and a business to run. Needless to say, as far as the public is concerned, Lora is Lorenzo’s fiancee and future stepmother to his twin girls.

Lora and Lorenzo are quite attracted to each other and their second night together results in hot, passionate sex. Since they both have needs, they agree to a sexual relationship while they are forced to be together. Lorenzo is having a difficult time getting used to Lora, because she is a smart, independent and strong-willed woman. At first, he finds these characteristics to be disloyal and annoying, but overtime, he begins to respect her for the goodness she exemplifies. Lora is having trouble adjusting to living in luxurious luxury, following the rules, and having a bodyguard by her side most of the time. She too begins to come around, as she learns about Lorenzo and his life.

As their fake engagement leads to real feelings, Lora and Lorenzo become an intriguing and interesting couple. They genuinely care about each other and Ms. Lyndhurst’s descriptions of their intimate encounters are not only sexy, they are also passionate. I connected with them both as individuals and as a couple. Overtime, Lora and Lorenzo begin to need each other and their feelings are tangible. I adore the fake fiancee trope and Ms. Lyndhurst does a good job of evolving it into a happily ever after.

This is a well written book that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The story is nicely paced and the characters are well developed and likeable. The secondary characters are interesting as well, especially Rosa, Lorenzo’s scary mother. She comes across as hateful and unfeeling, but she loves her son dearly and knows how to help him see the real meaning of life.
