Baby Surprise in Costa Rica by Sophia Pembroke: Jenny once had a goal to be an actress, but when she became involved in a scandal, she had to leave that dream behind. She was lucky to get a job as a personal assistant to an important actress, Winter. Jenny was able handle to all of Winter’s needs and they became friends. As part of the job, she accompanied Winter to Iceland. There see met former Hollywood star, Liam.

After a tragedy, Liam has left acting and the parties far behind. Now, he is designing and help build retreat resorts for people who want peace and isolation. Liam and Jenny engage in a torrid affair during the time they are both in Iceland. They think they will never see each other again.

Unfortunately, Jenny discovers after she gets back home that she’s pregnant, despite precautions.
Jenny goes to Costa Rica where Liam is working on a resort in the rainforest to tell him she is pregnant with his baby. Liam is stunned by the news and had decided that to avoid heartbreak and disaster, her will never have a family. Jenny and Liam decide they will take a week to make plans for the future, be it co-parenting or Liam just providing financial support.

I will probably never get to Costa Rica, but the lush descriptions that the author wove into the story made me feel as though I was right there with the vegetation and animals . After seeing many episodes of “Treehouse Masters”, I could envision the treehouse rooms.

The spicy romance between Jenny and Liam starts very close to the beginning. Their chemistry is not to be denied. Both of them have extreme baggage from the past and I loved how the author showed their growth over the arc of the plot.

I have read and enjoyed other novels by talented writer Sophia Pembroke in the recent past . I look forward to more of her work soon.
