Blame It on Texas by Amie Louellen is a delightful little novella that I could not but down. A refreshing plot draws the reader into this entertaining romance with characters that BioTare likeable, fun and real. This is a cute and sexy read that kept me engaged from beginning to end.

Shelby Patterson and Ritter McCoy were hopelessly in love seven years ago, when they were just barely out of high school. They married because Shelby was pregnant, but felt everything would okay because of their love. Tragically, Shelby lost the baby and as a result, she fled to California with her bohemian mother. At the time, she felt it would be best for both Ritt and herself to pursue their original future plans. Little did she know that her actions would cause Ritt a ton of sadness and longing.

Now Shelby is back in her hometown of Randall, Texas, seeking Ritt’s signature on divorce papers. She owns and runs a specialized bakery and believes her future success is contingent upon being free from her former life. Because Ritt has never forgiven Shelby for walking out on him, he decides to make her suffer a little before he signs on the dotted line. As they spend time together, they realize that they never stopped loving each other.

Overall, this is a well-written novella with two main characters that I really connected too. Don’t pass up the chance to spend a little time in Randall, Texas with Mr. and Mrs. Ritt McCoy.

Every first love deserves a second chance.

Shelby Patterson has come back to Texas for one reason and one reason only—to get her husband to sign divorce papers. She’s worked hard to build her California bakery, where clients clamor for her one-of-a-kind creations.

Seven years after her disastrous marriage, she’ll finally have everything in perfect order—just as soon as Ritter McCoy signs the dotted line.

Ritt is still pissed that Shelby walked out all those years ago without giving their marriage a chance. Sure, they were young and had just lost the baby that had rushed them to the altar, but they’d loved each other beyond reason.

Ritt gave up his college baseball scholarship, only to have Shelby and her mom take his parents’ bribe money and run. If Shelby wants those papers signed, she’ll just have to wait until he’s good and ready.

Or maybe, before she flies the coop again, he can convince her the love they had between them is still there—and still hot enough to melt their hearts back into one.
