Cinderella in the Surgeon’s Castle by Annie Claydon: Grace is a physiotherapist in London during the week. Every Friday she takes a train to Cornwall to help take care of her aging Gran and give her sisters a break. On one Friday, she finds herself seated near a charming man.
During the five hour journey she finds out Penn is an orthopedic surgeon so they have a good deal in common. They meet each Friday on the train and slowly get to know a little bit more about each other. Grace doesn’t know Penn is keeping a big secret from her. Will the knowledge that he has a title and a castle ruin their growing attachment as it has with others in the past?
I loved the slow boil of the romance this story. At the same time this book is much more than just a love story. The demands and love of family life are explored in depth. This makes the plot even more engaging. I was fascinated about the glass works and the vivid descriptions brought me new knowledge. It was great that Penn was so into that business as well as his surgery practice, but it seems he was overextending himself.
It’s understandable how Grace and Penn each had to deal with bad relationships in the past and that it’s had a huge impact on the present. You have to root for them because they seem so perfect for each other.
Author Annie Claydon is new to me. She is another writer who makes me enjoy Harlequin Medical Romances. I hope to read more novel from her in the future.
